Kate: Now, we actually have a chance to see what the marks should have been. Because only the flute section is infected.
Milena: Right. There is no such thing as an electronic flute. That doesn't remove anything from their skills.
Kate tries her hand first, not before that her instrument have been assigned as well as for Milena. In Kate's case, there is a mouthpiece too. Then Milena also gets to play.
Dede: Who is that foreign teacher?
Kate: Meet Katie Hoff, a drinking champion and professional cheater.
Katie: How do you know I'm ranked number one in the world in the women's 800 mL beer event? I'm a Force-user, for those who would have been tempted to modify the marks via Jedi mind tricks. The only Force-skill authorized during an instrumental exam is the enhancing field.
Katie serves this warning for the simple reason that the entire skill of Force-using musicians is broken down into two parts: one that everyone has (the naturals), the other one that is dependent on the power usage and that only Force-users can therefore have. The second part is called a FATM (Force-acquired talent margin) which is the percentage of the total talent given by the Force compared to the total talent. The FATMs of Kate, Milena and Dede are 58%, 67% and 3% respectively. Dede, though talented, seems to be requiring Force-influence to get the best marks avaible.
A trumpeter, Josh, as well as a trombonist, Jake, also have those margins, and finally, the lead drummer/keyboard player, Cindy, are Force-users. Once everybody in that class passed the seeding tests, the results are exposed at the teacher's desk. Milena takes a look, with the other three flutists (Dede, the Padawan, plus two normal, powerless people) and Kate.
Yet the marks of the flutists appear in that order: Jennifer (Brizak): 91%, Alyssa (Hickman): 89%, Milena (Sae): 95%, Dede (Trotter): 82%. Had Dede used her Force-abilities to successfully influence the teacher, it might have been: 83, 77, 82 and 95 instead of 91, 89, 95 and 82.
Dede: You were right, Milena. It took so long to admit it, but I really have Force-powers!
Milena: Now, you see that Dede's good marks are a result of Force-influence. All of you, folks!
OOC:I have a new character, remember? Her name is Valora. She's the one you were hanging out with in the hall.
She glanced at the people standing at her doorway and wondered what she should say. For a moment she felt like blurting out random French but thought it over and smiled. "What is the project?" She then thought about the boy she met at school. "Let me guess, it involves something about fighting, saving lives, and....then trying to lead a normal life at school?" She began to remember the life she used to have. She was in a special force..a force that saved lives---but there was that one life. The one she held in her arms and the one who wepted when death came near. The one she loved and lost.
Kate: I do not actually engage in any fight of any kind. My team might have three Jedi, one of them being on the Jedi Council, the project actually is to pretend your team of four have to make a travel guide about the destination of the team's choice, then do an oral presentation of a new kind and try to ''sell'' to the different teams your destination, using a phony travel agency.
Dede: I might, in three years, go to the Olympics as a competitor.
Valora: In what event?
Dede: The 1,500 meter race (track event).
Brad: Valora, you're so beautiful!
Her mind was full of such information and also the compliment from Brad. "Thank you." She looks toward Brad and slightly gives him a smile. She then looks over to the others. "Agency? Hmm...."She closed her eyes for a moment, dimming herself from the world surrounding her. Without opening her eyes she spoke. "Alright. Count me in."
