What's so illogical about Wolverine strategizing in the heat of battle, anyway? (Since that's what started this whole comic book logic thread.) The guy is, if not immune to pain, extremely tolerant of it. He's also a very experienced fighter.
My fencing instructor described fencing as "chess at one thousand miles an hour." Martial arts allow you to think several moves ahead, to plot out attacks or fake-outs even while you're exchanging blows. That's the advantage of having a system of strikes.

Stormshadow plays chess in his head while fighting and thinking 20 moves ahead of his opponents. Thats how you know he is badass... well that and the uncountable amount of asses he has kicked.
