The Encyclopaedia Britannica reports that "The traditional customs connected with Christmas have developed from several sources as a result of the coincidence of the celebration of the birth of Christ with the pagan agricultural and solar observations at midwinter. In the Roman world the Saturnalia (December 17) was a time of merrymaking and exchange of gifts. December 25 was also regarded as the birth date of the Iranian mystery god Mithra, the Sun of Righteousness."

Colliers Encyclopedia agrees. Quote: "After the triumph of Constantine, the church at Rome assigned December 25 as the date for the celebration of the feast, possibly about A.D. 320 or 353. By the end of the fourth century the whole Christian world was celebrating Christmas on that day, with the exception of the Eastern churches, where it was celebrated on January 6. The choice of December 25 was probably influenced by the fact that on this day the Romans celebrated the Mithraic feast of the Sun-god (natalis solis invicti), and that the Saturnalia also came at this time."Both encyclopedias plainly reveal that the source of the celebration of December 25 is the birthday of Mithra, the pagan sun god.

What's wrong with having the same birthday as someone else? I was born on the same day as my cousin yet we aren't the same people (But we do get along as friends)

Exactly these are all dates decided on by people to celebrate the existence of their gods. The gods had no hand in this so no one stole any one's birthday.

What's wrong with having the same birthday as someone else?
nothing, but when it comes to christianity you need to look behind to find the reason for why those dates were picked.
And the answer is in fact very simple. Its a marketing strategy, they needed to promote their religion to the people and the easiest way was to select a time of the year that was already used to celebrate things. It would be easier for them to accept the new religion if they felt it had similarities with their old ones

some of those dates aint god related at all, some cultures celebrated the turning of the sun without relating the event to a god

True, many of the dates were attributed to the Seasons, the Solstices...Because people didn't understand.....EVEN many of the Hebrew Feast days revolve around the seasons....Hmmmm?...

There are many different cultures and religions celebrating certains feasts and occasions on the same dates. That is just what it is. The upside to this is that with so many people all over the world celebrating something relevant to them it makes the world a better and sometimes more peaceful place even only for a day or week.

most of the cultures on the northern hemisphere have some sort of winter solstice in common though and christianity just tagged along with these in order to taylor it in with what they were used too

Christmas is a PAGAN and NOT a Messiahian festival!
The 25th of December was celebrated in ancient days as the birthday of the unconquerable SUN god, (variously know as Tammuz, Mithra, Saturn, Adonis or BAAL) centuries before Yahushua Messiah was born in Bethlehem.
Nowhere in the Bible are believers in the Yahweh of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob required to celebrate Christmas.
The early TRUE Nazarene/Messiahian assembly did not celebrate Christmas! Instead it celebrated the sacred festivals mentioned in the Bible.
In order to win Gentile converts to the pseudo-christian faith, the Roman Assembly, centuries after the apostolic era, adopted this ancient pagan winter festival of the SUN god and renamed it 'Christmas' mistakenly thinking that it would honor the SON of Yahweh.
Scholars have for centuries known these facts. They can be confirmed in any reference library.

And yes...It was easier to assimilate everyone by just changing the names.....many were from the beginning seasons...magic of the gods.

People were very surperstisious with weather, omens, and numbers...especially the number 13....Like Fri. the 13th...everything has a beginning source must have to look back for it.

According to Christian missionaries who chronicled the exploits of the pagan Vikings, Freyja was the Norse goddess of love, marriage and the dead, wife of Odin. Her day was Friday, the luckiest day of the week, often used by the Anglo-Saxons as a wedding day. In an act of vehement suppression, the Christian church declared this most fortunate of days to be "unlucky", and hence unavailable for pagan marriages. Mandatory fasting, abstinence, and self denial reinforced the suppression of this day of joy. The rumor was started that Freyja was number 13 of the Norse deities to rule on Valhalla, and she herself led a troupe of 12 demons. After the conversion of the locals to Christianity, it was said that Freyja would pursue her former followers on each Friday the 13th to bring them ill will in revenge for the abandonment of her rites.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be FELT. And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days: They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings. [ Exodus 10:21-23 ]

NO LIGHT IN EGYPT FOR THREE DAYS! IT WAS DARKNESS THAT WAS FELT!

Were there special clouds then?

For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand); Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before. Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. [ Matthew 24:5-51 ]

Bunny.....I've already read Matt. 24...and what's your point of this.

maybe a bit of research for all of you is needed

To understand the ancient Sun symbolism is to understand the major religions. In the ancient world they used one particular symbol (see Figure 13) for the Sun’s journey through the year. As we will see in a later chapter, this is still a fundamental symbol used by the Babylonian Brotherhood. It symbolised both the Phoenician depictions of
Barati and was on the shield of her British expression, Britannia. The ancients took the circle of the zodiac (a Greek word meaning animal circle) and inserted a cross to mark the four seasons. At the centre of the cross, they placed the Sun. So many of the pre- Christian deities were said to have been born on December 25th because of this symbolism. On December 2lst-22nd, you have the winter solstice when, in the northern
hemisphere, the Sun is at the lowest point of its power in the annual cycle. The Sun, the ancients said, had symbolically ‘died’. By December 25th, the Sun had demonstrably begun its symbolic journey back to the summer and the peak of its power. The ancients, therefore, said that the Sun was ‘born’ on December 25th.The Christian Christmas is merely a renamed Pagan festival, as indeed are all Christian festivals.

I thought me and my cousin were the same person.... 🙄
