Ok, you may think they aren't emo, but people have different views of what emo really is. Sometimes, its something personal to them so people shouldn't upset their definition by slapping some Wikipedia thing on it 😮 😕
And please do not insult the bands, they make good music and don't stereotype it themselves - people do that for them.

people have wrong views on what emo is.... emo, emotional hardcore, stemmed.... by definition, and name... from Hardcore - a brand of punk from 80's/90's.

did Fall Out Boy stem from that brand of music?.... nope, so are they emo? nope, not by definition, not by name, not by style.... only by musically inept fanboys/girls

Dude, I didn't realize liking "Fall Out Boy" and "Panic! At The Disco" came at such a price. 😮

I utterly agree with that comment... just leave us alone. I don't care. Fine, its not emo, but its not pop. I come from england... I don't shop in "hot topic" and don't know about moody kids sitting in the back of geometry classes (we don't have "geometry"😉, and pop here is certainly different to what you class as pop. Basically, its an all girl/boy group with no instruments, singing premade songs done by a writer which kids and girls who think the guys in it are hot absolutely love.
So whatever, I like them, I don't need your sinical opinion. It sounds to me you need to get a life, because you are just reminicing on how life used to be, and taking it out on the "disgraceful young people of this age" as it were... I don't care to be honest with you, and intend to continue buying Cds or downloading Fall Out Boy and Panic! At the Disco's music.

Gotta love the irony here:

"I don't care to be honest with you, and intend to continue buying Cds or downloading Fall Out Boy and Panic! At the Disco's music."

So supportive of you.

They are pop, stop denying it just because you're afraid of liking a pop band.

i must be...and am proudly...probably the only person in the world who hasn't heard a single song by fall out boy...and from what i'm told...i'm not missing much...although i do prefer to make up my own mind so if and when i hear them...then i'll pass judgement

Nothing wrong with liking "pop" as long as it is good "pop" .....that being said, I have neither heard Fallout Boy nor Panic at the Disco

People label pop bands pop-punk or pop-rock or pop-emo, just because they're afraid of just calling them pop.

I never said pop in itself was bad.

I know, I just wanted to at that. Most people connect "pop" with "bad" ...which in most cases certainly applies.

I actually used to love pop bands, but to be honest I don't class this as pop.. I thought I've said this before... God it seems i have to repeat this to drum it into your mind...
What you think is pop is utterly different from my kind of pop. Saying pop, I associate it with S Club 7/Westlife/Kelly Clarkson/Britney/winners of shows such as the X factor and Pop Idol (e.g Will young) NOT these bands. Ok. I don't care if they aren't emo but to be honest you have a strange definition of pop...
I personally think you're afraid of any new bands coming on the scene and people giving them a label that you're so emotionally attached to. Get a life..

And I'd also like to mention you said nothing about my definition on my previous post, saying pop bands are bands with young guys/girls dancing round and singing songs not written by themselves. And another example of this is the sugababes.

Your definition of what is pop doesn't mean that Fall Out Boy are not pop. They make pop music and they are a pop band.

They just make different pop music to those other "artists".

Afraid of new bands? Sweetie, that's pretty, but Fall Out Boy are a pop band and nothing is changing that.

I don't know, man. I guess it's the way I read your posts, it's almost as if you're putting us (who like "Fall Out Boy"😉 down. But whatever, I'm pretty sure you don't mean to offend anyone, so it's all good. 🙂

Despite my opinions of people's tastes, it's up to you what you like or what you don't like.

This IS a discussion board so things like that will eventually come up.

-AC

Yeah, don't get me wrong. It's actually pretty cool to be talking to someone who isn't crazy about "Fall Out Boy" (unlike my whole class). 😛

So, I guess I can thank you for that.

Fall Out Boy definitely deserve their own thread..they're my favorite band and they're really original

to quote flipper-
"HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA"

You are calling them pop without any explanation. So tell me, do they have a bassline? Are the lyrics cheesy and constantly about love? Hmm?

They are pop, just a different kind of pop. They play pop music with instruments so obviously it sounds different.

Playing instruments doesn't make you a rock band.

-AC

i dont like the style of music FOB plays, i dont like how i cant understand them in their most famous song (dont know their name). They're not that good at playing their instruments, their singer sucks. Popular "Rock" music these days are just all little kids yelling at their parents, and so are the fans of these bands.

Spoiler:
that rhymed....i rock

BUMP!
