Well first off, do you actually have proof it was Al Qaida?

You're all too quick to point the finger. It might very well have been Al Qaida, given the time and nature, it looks likely. But it's not certain is it?
Secondly, they don't believe their religion or cause is bad. They believe they are doing good things. Like any brainwashed follower.

Any person or religion will think what they are doing is the right thing. It's the fault in everyone. There are always 2 sides to every story and 2 points of view.
I may think I am in the right and good when I say Al Qaida sucks balls, but they may think they are right in challenging and attempting to take down the "evil" Empires of the world.
Long story short, everyone will think they are right, no matter what.
