The Treaty of Versailles was deeply unfair on Germany... They were given the blame for the whole of WWI and it was as much Britain's fault. France went into Versailles with the one mission... to destroy Germany.. like they destroyed France in WWII...It was because of the "Allies" that Germany failed... it was because of the "Allies" that Germany put Hitler into power.
spoon-man, I'm proud of you! not many guys your age know the difference between "official" history and what really happened. i thought the truth was the province of old guys like me and our cadres. being from a military family, (my dad fought in nam, and my g father fought in the European theater AND Korea) ,we always got the 'straight skinny'about the politics of war. one correction though---it was not the "allies" that choked the treaty of Versailles down the throats of the Germans, but France!!! it was to be twenty short years until France paid for their shortsightedness.

I actually love history I think thats why I look back at wars of all eras and they just intrigue me, although some have been fought for el retardo reasons.
