The question is well presented and offers no bias in favour of any of the three options for response. The sample group though brings the methodology into question. This is only my observation of the people who have posted - many of whom I like and respect. Howeve,r they are "mostly","long term members" and they feel a greater stake in KMC perhaps than others, maybe even hearken back to "good old days" which may or may not have existed here. The nature of forums, in my opinion and I am sure many posters well 29 at least 😛 will disagree, is that forums are dynamic on line communities and new people will behave slightly differently to old, these differences may be part of the problem. The net has changed greatly since I first went on line in 93. People are looking for a "quick hit" more. I don't know enough about KMC to comment on whether the forum runs advertising or whether the advertising runs the forum this is not my business and of no interest to me. However short term members are what keep forums alive, most people who become long term members will moderate towards the said forums accepted "group think mean". The others will leave.
There's nothing wrong with new members... its how they incorporate into the forums that matter...
Older members are not completely to blame, nor are the newer members completely to blame either...
but imo...
there aren't enough mods, or restrictions on thread creation and so forth...
