Tsk. Alright, recap.
- DON'T post threads with "At his peak". If you have a specific movie or book time slot, note it. "At his peak" is just a thinly veiled attempt at pushing more power out of someone who is outclassed, like Yoda versus Kun or something.
-DON'T make a thread that is overly obvious just from the title. (i.e. ROTS Obi, Yoda and Mace versus Revan) Such threads aren't worth the time they take to load up on DSL.
-DON'T argue from ignorance. If you aren't sure or you aren't the expert on something, either look it up (Remember to cross-reference your sources to make sure it isn't untrue) or ask a question in the EU main forum. If you absolutely must post without at least the majority of the facts behind you, make a note that you are without certain facts.
-DON'T make dumb threads. Everyone hates them.
-DON'T make an argument solely by discrediting someone unless you can defend the person you're supporting.
-DON'T show bias. It's hard to avoid, but do it. If you're clearly bias, that comes under fire and it undermines your argument. Maintain an open mind and, if all else fails, agree to disagree.
-DON'T make a thread unless you're certain it hasn't been done before (And the thread IS still available. This is pretty much for newer members)
-DO entertain ideas that make sense, even if you don't really want to agree to them immediately. Always concede that one or both parties may be wrong or uninformed enough to make a binding decision.
-DO acknowledge that, while this is assumption and speculation on our sides, to reach an acceptable decision we should present facts and draw conclusions from stuff that we actually know. On things we do not know but we wish to put forward, we must provide reasoning as to why we believe so and why we believe others should believe so. "IMO" doesn't cut it. Neither does "Annyken wins, lol r0x00r!!@!@!"
-DO be considerate when making threads. Don't litter the forum with wasteful threads (This is aimed primarily at newer members) Also, be sure to put the duel in perspective, with a time, place, etc. And specifiy who is going to engage who. If I say it's Yoda and Obi-Wan versus Malak and Boy George, the fight can get really messy.
Again, read the above list. I will call on those who disregard it, as it's reasonable by any standards.
