NICS (National Instant Check System) is required before buying a gun.

Your social security number is dialed to the state police and federal law enforcement agencies of your state before the gun is bought. Your mental, criminal, and physical records are totally accessed, and if ANY information you provide on the form is inconsistent with the database, you CANNOT buy a gun. If you have a conviction for as little as throwing something at someone or shoving someone, you CAN'T buy a gun.

You cannot lie on this form because your permanent records are matched against the info you provide. It's a far cry from perfect but this is a safer step. And while you can't stop organized crime, this system ensures that people who are better capable of having guns buy them.

I have no criminal records, no felonies, and I am legally entitled to own a gun under the laws of my state. And I and other people shouldn't have our rights taken away as a result of those who are criminal in their intent.

Now, am not against guns for sporting, hunting or collecting reasons...but there is no other reason why anyone in any western coutry needs a gun.....you have a good Army and a good Police.....there is no reason for every citizen to be armed..on the contrary it is very harmful....

And thank you for realizing that I do NOT support assault weapons. But you went off on me assuming the worst and I retaliated and we both wound up looking like 2 year olds. Forget about it, it's water under the bridge.

Not every citizen is armed, that's a common misconception. And that's all I use my guns for, is sporting. I shoot trap and skeet with an old 12 gauge shotgun. What harm is done in THAT? Am I hurting anyone?

And FYI-NOT having a gun is just as bad. How many times have entire families been killed by one or more people armed with nothing more than a knife? You don't have to cower to a violent home intruder. It's YOUR home. And the places with the strictest gun laws have the highest crime rates. Hello Washington D.C....

And maybe part of my attitude comes from having several family members in law enforcement, but that's how it is. I would rather take my chances being tried and convicted by a jury of twelve,than to be carried out and buried by a party of six.

And finally, it IS the duty of every citizen to defend their country. If our police and military get held up at the front lines, or they get neutralized, it IS up to every law abiding citizen to lay their lives down for their country. Your (our) freedom came from someone else's sacrifice and if it takes ordinary people like you and I to repel an invader, so be it.

Someone died to give me MY freedom, and yours as well, and I (we) have a duty to do the same.

Not a major share...I lived in the US and I know most are great people...w2ay nicer than most germans.,..I was just saying what kind of people with guns I was talkin aboot...it was really not meant as a personal insult but more of my view on guns in general...I life in a country where we don't need them so and I feel perfetly safe....

But you are right I behaved like an idiot with labeling people so forgive me, i just don't see the necessity of guns to protect oneself.....

Fair enough, but all I was saying, and pointing out, was that as far as removal of civil rights and liberties, the American Constitution was in danger in more areas than one,and by a group of hypocrites who want it all for themselves. Has it ever been any different?

All I was was saying is that the UN has no business trying to change America's Constitution. Our Constitutional rights are OUR business.

The day the UN delegates pay off their 50+million doallrs in traffic tickets they avoid with their diplomatic immunity, then they can start talking about individual responsibility..if you'd like to continue this in a separate thread, feel free, I'm always open to opposite points of view. Well it won't be a cooler place where I live for at least another month, it's almost 100 degrees outside today, but I'll take a downpayment on coolness knowing the KMF people are people you can talk to and make up with with no hard feelings. Anyhow back to the topic.

We were all hoping that the UXB's would provide some forensic evidence as to who did it and why. Forensics is a fascinating field and one that is hardly ever wrong. I hope they find out who did this and let em' have it.
