Star Wars Galaxies

Both games prolly appeal to their own fanbase, 90% of a game is still gameplay, and gameplay is individual. So comparing two games even from the same genre is a bit dumb

Yes, but Star Wars has been embedded in popular culture for thirty years, whereas most people have not heard of Warcraft. When you remember watching Empire Strikes Back the first time when you were 7 it means so much more to be able to ride your taun-taun about in your adulthood 😱

Ok, ignore the whole fanbase thing, look at it in terms of gameplay.

Someone said the PvP was crap...I cant be stuffed looking back..but why is it crap? I cant make up my mind on which is better just because someone says one game is better and the other is crap😬

Im a Star Wars fan, but I also like the warcraft world, I'd have just as much fun riding a star wars mount than I would riding a warcraft mount. Its the same thing. Im looking at what makes one game better. If its just a visual difference, then I'll just go get SW.

That might help you decide which game to get, not that many SW funnies you can do there huh

You can listen to the biased things all the WoW fanboys are saying or you can just trial both and see what you like better.

Dude. That reeks of bias.

What he said^, but replace the acronym 'WoW' with SWG.

A taste of WoW fanboyism. And about Star Wars being part of popular culture for the last 30 years, I'll just give you the benefit of the doubt that you have a second rate knowledge of popular culture.

Star Wars Galaxies sucks. SOE treat their customer base like shit and act as though said customers are ****ing morons.

Having played both, I can say that World of Warcraft is, without question, the superior game.

The attitude you are taking on is "Let's buy it because it's Star Wars."

Seriously, just because a game has the words Star Wars in its title does not make it necessarily the greater game. Gameplay, sounds, interactivity, etc. does.

SWG Review
WoW Review

WoW = 9.5.
SWG = 7.5.

Go figure.

I didnt say it was a greater game. No, not at all and if you had the thought to read earlier posts you would quite clearly see that I have played both.

Yet you have no nostalgia whatsoever playing WoW when its Star Wars, its great.

You also seem to be acting on the very false pretence that I'd buy any game that had Star Wars on it. Wrong, its common knowledge that most Star Wars games suck big donkey dick.

So go and get off'it will ya.

I believe neither WoW or SWG are offering free trials at this time..

I guess some good points to consider about wow

-you can solo to 60 if you desire (some mmo's require you to party whore)

-the pvp is nicely thought out

-the game is still early in its life, so there is much to be changed in future patches

-for those who say you're stuck doing end game raids, there are PVP weapons / armor via reputation in battle grounds as an alternative

-I have yet to find a class that I hate. However, 'do' choose your class wisely as it can become quite an investment beyond 60

Hey. Leave out the fanboyish bickering, please.

Thankyou. WoW is a better game if you look at it from that perspective, but the whole point of MMORPG's is to Roleplay. The community was more into battling onscreen animations than socialising in an incredibly geeky way.

Yes, I have read your posts. And you do say earlier that you prefer SWG over WoW. It's pretty clear from that statement that you believe it to be the better game.

Well, I can hardly be contradicted for assuming that, considering you did say "ffs it's Star Wars!"

Prefering something over another doesnt automatically divulge what is better. Surely you've heard of a little something called personal opinion ? So obviously, its not clear.

Yes, well Original Star Wars Timeline + MMORPG = Muchos Funno.

Your not suggesting you don't like original Star Wars are you? Because if that were the case you'd be line for a good ol' fashioned piece of mocking slander 😮‍💨

That's the base for Star Wars fans, I'd guess. For WarCraft it's the world of Azeroth.

I've read the Gamespy reviews for both; WoW seeks to deliver as a game, rather than experience the landmarks and the famous people, yadda yadda. It helps though, because there are; but popular as it is, Warcraft still isn't as widely known

SWG does deliver a more worldly experience and specifically the cities, like Theed. However, the reviewer's bottom line:
"So, what's the bottom line, then? When it came time to score Galaxies, I initially thought of all the bugs and broken areas, the steep subscription fee and poor customer service, the often slow-paced gameplay and as-yet unrealized potential of the game. And yet, even with all these drawbacks, I find myself hooked -- there's fun to be had, if you're willing to dig through the frustrations."

I don't really discriminate between the films simply because of newer technology used, but I do like action. That's why I liked ROTS and TESB.

So you seek to discredit me with your cutting and paste ability? How amusing...

Hmm. Well I don't actually see any point in what you just said? Infact i don't see the point your trying to make at all.

And you only like action? How bland your life must be. 😕

Yeah, I know. And it was pretty much personal opinion of what you said there. You said: "I prefer SWG." Which means that you believe it to be a better overall game. Which is personal opinion.

Ta-da.

Did they really had to add the Jedis? Wasn't this game more fun with the dancing Wookie?!
