I took some suggestions from everyone.
It was a duel that had no sabers. It also stated that Yoda would perhaps best Sidious on neutral ground. But it also said that Sidious's victory was attributed to the shift from Light supremacy to Dark supremacy - and that Yoda couldn't have beaten the Dark Lord at the time.
Very good indeed!
I especially like how you managed to take what most people thought of as a side battle and turn it into the true embodiment of good versus evil. If this were film, that would be an emotional storm right there. I could envision everything... the looks on their faces, the glow of the energy... If you ask me, GL did the series a disservice by catering to the fans and straying from the story. Don't get me wrong; Anakin versus Obi-wan is an intense and neccessary battle. But the true epic duel should have been these two. They are, as you pointed out, the avatars of their respective sides. The battle in ROTS does not indicate this.
Thanks, I appreciate it.
To me - the Sidious and Yoda duel represents what you said. A battle between good and evil. Some people would argue that Anakin and Obi-Wan is that. But it's not, really. It's sort of like two brothers fighting one another. It's not a duel with any real philosophical engineering. Just to show how two great friends turn into bitter enemies.
Sidious and Yoda are the most powerful of either side of the Force in the movies. Sidious is uber-evil and Yoda is uber-good. When they duke it out, it shows not a fight between two brothers - but good and evil incarnated.
The duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan is meant to be the emotional climax of the movie, the one point where evrything from the last two movies, all the evils, all the hopes, all the feelings, are packe dinto one, ferocious battle. It was, in a sense, the ultimate result of the past movies. Deception, love, betrayal. . . they all boil down into that one duel, where two brothers who'd fought in a war for everything they believe in puyt everything else around them aside, until it is only them. Brother against brother, in which is the most moving event of the saga; the betrayal of a man who dedicated his life to the destruction of evil, only to become its greatest agent.
Palpatine and Sidious, yes, it is the ultimate battle of good and evil. Yoda and Palpatine may well be considered the sources of the other duelist pair's motives. They are, after-all, good and evil incarnate. I'd like to try my hand at this duel myself, at showing how the two duels intertwine into one, true battle. A battle of destinies.
And Darth Somebody, excellently done.

Still considering it?
Actually...yes. I have started the story already but this might take some time because:
a) I'm writing it in German (because my English story writing pretty much sucks) and so I have to translate it before posting
b) I have too many concepts to think about
c) I don't have enough time at the moment

Do you actually think in German, btw? I know it sounds like a silly question, but it's one no one ever asks. [/B]
Well...
According to some language theories (and philosophical theories) your native language is greatly influencing your way of thinking. So yes...I think in German and than translate my thoughts into English. But that's what everybody I know would do trying to express himself in a foreign language.
But...I don't think of a German sentence and than translate it into English. It's just developing ideas and then ("thinking English"😉 write them down.

Well...I started learning English on my own at the age of 5 (before attending school) and it's one of the main subjects on German schools. Therefore you receive lessons in English from 5th to 10th grade at least. If you want to archive the best possible school qualification (called Abitur - which I have) you have to go through another additional 3 years of school. So I received lessons in English for 9 years total (3 hours per week).
And doubtless you've probably put more effort and work behind learning the language. Hell, I've forgotten how to use English stress-marked letters that I learned in first grade (Which is a dumb thing for schools to do, because accented letters aren't quite easy to remember when you only learn them once, back when the coolest thing in life was recess)

Well...I was "forced" to do that more or less. I used to play online games in my earlier days very much (Unreal Tournament and MMORPGs) and I did that in some kind of "international" gaming clan for UT (with Dutch, Belgian, English, Portugese and American people) and an American guild. So I just needed to learn some English in order to communicate with my mates.
So...if somebody tells you that you can't learn something while playing games I'm a good example to prove the opposite. 😛

So when you see a chair, you think of the German word for chair, right? I knew one guy who spoke Dutch, but spent about a year in America and started to think in English, even though it wasn't his original tounge.
Possible but I doubt it. In subjects I use to run across English terms more than German words I'm thinking in English myself. MMORPGs would be a good example since I think of "experience" and "skills" (while not thinking of the German words).

And we have another one that has learned English from games...
They should change the school system instead of teaching us English they should give us some good RPG's or something. Instead of teaching history they should give historically accurate games. Instead of teaching Math they should give us some time for ourselves.
It would make the world a better place.
