I remember that the amphistaff could have been used as a whip... it can follow Yoda. Also, without the guidance of the Force, Yoda would feel awkward against Shimrra.
Yoda faced 2 Sith Lords and you think Shimrra would "shock" him because he would not be able to sense Shimrra through the force ? Pff...
And Yodas lightsaber skill doesn't rely on force based prediction but on the lightning-fast reflexes the force gives a Jedi. So he would suffer no special disadvantages while fighting Shimrra while Shimrra has to deal with a target that is nearly impossible to hit.
Believe me...when NJO Luke is able to take Shimrra in a duel after fighting through all that Vong before then Yoda would be able to take Shimrra too.
You know little, if anything, about the NJO Series I see. Luke was nearly killed in his "duel", if that's what you call it. He killed seven slayers, and then Shimrra came up. he whipped out his amphistaff and coiled it around Luke, crushing him. Then, the "head" of the weapon rose up to strike him. Grabbing it with his spare hand, he left himself open to a strike from a lightsaber. He blocked it, in turn getting a nasty piece of flesh ripped out of him. Finally, the lightsaber flew into his hand, and, chopping apart the amphistaff, he beheaded Shimrra.
And what does wisdom have to do with anything in a duel?
i do know quite a lot about NJO and wisdom helps one sense attacks through the force which is important for a fight. And i think luke could quite easily beat him because he had just fought seven slayers and shimraa had got the upperhand from a surprise attack. But fair point and i didnt quite make myself clear
Shimrra is basicly the DLOS of the Yuuzhan Vong. He is the Mandalore of the Yuuzhan Vong. And since so many of you hate the NJO series, I guess you forgot that the Yuuzhan Vong can be sensed in the force, showing that some of them may have force potential. They are just "invisible" to the way most Jedi look in the force. Let me make an analogy.
Let's say your TV has two channels. On one channel is Family Guy and on the other is Futurama. Futurama is on channel one and Family Guy is on channel two. The Jedi use channel one and are watching Futurama. What they want to watch is Family Guy though because that lets them see the Yuuzhan Vong. You keep trying to change the channel, but it keeps coming up blank. For a long time you think there is no channel two. One day someone comes over and puts an adapter on your TV allowing you to see channel two. Being able to watch Family Guy is great, but you are now unable to watch Futurama without changing the channel back to 1. You can now watch both of the shows, just not at the same time.
It is the same way with the Yuuzhan Vong and other people. The Jedi have to change "channels" to be able to sense them in the force. I know that Jacen was able to sense the Yuuzhan Vong after Traitor. The "adaptor for his TV" was an implant he got from the Yuuzhan Vong, the "Slave Seed". Therefor the Yuuzhan Vong are infact a part of the force.
The Yuuzhan Vong are to a Jedi a regular person without Jedi training. Still part of the force, they just can't be sensed by them.
