In retrospect the previous chapters weren't that bad either since professional plot building follows the formula: Exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution. We just happen to be in the falling action, exposition interval of the previous arc and it took a few weeks.
I expect the manga to get more interesting for here though.

That about sums up my thoughts on it, as well.
It was REALLY damn good during the soul society arc...but it's been waning since then.
And, I do not agree with you opinion on typical fiction style: there is writing and then there is stalling between each chapter because you know that millions of people will continue to purchase and read your stories because you are an established writer. Kubo has become the Apple of Manga: releasing almost no significant updates with each release and holding out on what people really want because he knows people will still buy whatever shit he releases.
Like I said, we could compact that little section of Ichigo's out into just 4 panels...then the rest of the chapter could include the highschool shenanigans. Thus, saving us all 4 or 5 chapters of WASTED time. We ended up with an entire page that is completely irrelevant to Bleach...it's basically just art at that point and irrelevant art, at that.
yep, really the only things good that came out of the resent arc is grim jaw and......OMG I am so sick of me forgetting names. the guy with 2 releases, and the general dude going all out, that was sick. other than that, I didn't get to see any of my favorite characters bankai like i wanted, ichigo just pis'sed his way all over aizen, and visa versa. and nothing was really resolved completely....ya know, now i think about it, I think im completely done with this series...pains me, cuz like you said, the soul society arc was awesome, and it was really funny at times, but it just lost all of that.
I didn't think that the newest chapter was bad at all. Functional animism seems like a good fit with the rest of the cosmological mechanics of the universe, and it offers a rejuvinating faction outside of the soul society/hollow dynamic.
Given how static that conflict must be to maintain some degree of stability, this has a lot of potential.

Maybe it's because these new people are actually telling Ichigo stuff and not waiting until the middle of a frikkin fight to share some information.
Either that or this is Ichigo's attempt at character development.
