There's still what's her name, the forth squad captain. She is really strong, apparantly. I'd like to see what happens. I hope Ichigo gets a power boost and gets REALLY strong...like the first Super Saiyan thing.

This fight is pretty crazy. Bleach would just be that much better if the characters actually died though.

But this chapter is definitely leading up to something. Ichigo is getting MESSED UP - he won't be winning this fight. In fact, I think he might possibly die, but then maybe get resurrected later. Maybe Inoue will revive him and then SHE'LL die. Who knows?

I do know that Ishida totally has the hots for Inoue. Maybe HE'S the one who will die. He'll have Inoue run off with Ichigo while he buys time (barely)

And why? Hasn't he gotten enough of those? That would be ridiculously predictable, bland, and it would be bad writing.

Their is more to writing a good manga/comic than giving the protagonist a power boost every fight.

Definitely - but it's not impossible that Bleach won't mature passed that point. It's happened with other shonen shows after-all. But I think it's stepping up for sure, I mean - it has to end at some point right? I mean, what conflict could be behind Aizen? Things can start to really mature now story-wise. And I don't really remember ever seeing anything like the "I knew I'd regret that" narration thing in any other chapter right?

edit: i just re-read the chapter where ishida shows up to help Renji fight Szayel. Bleach may not have many battles of the brains, but Ishida at least fights with some strategy. Trapping Szayel in that quincy pentagram thing.

I'll admit Uryu is one of the more strategical fighters in the show.

Him and Kenpachi(when he feels like it).

Actually, I'm of the opinion that Ichigo is already more than powerful enough. Seriously. He is just de-powered every fight. What it would take now is another "unlock" to win. 😐

i agree, Ulquiorra has already stated that Ichigo's reatsu fluctuates from very weak, to stronger than his own

all Ichigo needs is that fluctuation caused by some emotional upset, like Orihime dying... or her telling him not to die, that seems to work

Kubo isn't exactly a brilliant writer or anything. If Ichigo outsmarts Ulquiorra or wins by some means other than a sudden power up, it'll shock me to no end.

The most likely option is Grimmjow or Unohana interfere...

You, sir, are correct. The top 4 are a whole head and shoulders above he rest. They are called the quatro for a reason. It's like a Vice Captain compared to a captain. Seriously, there's that much of a difference.
