Shit, Yamamoto could take on all the other Captains and **** if they can do anything about it.

why doesn't it make sense?
Instead of the captains squaring off against the Espada and taking several casualties, why didn't Yamamoto just take out most of the Espada himself? He just took out three captain-level foes casually (including one who beat Byakuya, so we aren't even talking 'captain level-in-name only'😉. Where was that casual power before?
Especially since when the battle started, Wonderweiss wasn't there as a counter.

Aizen was the villain. Dun mind if the villain can do it really(I mean, it's not a good thing but it's better than the hero being that strong).
Yama has already been established as being = or > Aizen though.
Yama is kind of going overboard. For a guy who's never even used his bankai onscreen, he clearly wants to make an example of Bach, who has barely thrown a couple attacks at this point, and Yama's using every one of his bankai abilities and announcing how badly he's going to beat him.
This has got to be a fake out where Bach will suddenly pwn him. Because at the moment Yama is acting like that guy who loudly brags about how powerful he is only for the hero to kick his ass. Plus Bach can't really die.
If only his look of terror and amazement wasn't so real.....

As for him not handling everyone himself during the FKT arc, i assume he thought his captains/vice captains were capable of taking care of business. I remember him saying something to the effect of "I'm disappointed that i had to join the fight".

Yeah, this is really the biggest problem here. I mean, Aizen never seem phased by much of anything and while this made him seem unstoppable, it also made the moments where he did so genuine surprise more interesting.
Bach here just isn't doing that. He's constantly wide eyed in the fight and Yamamoto comes across as the one unphased. Which is just going to make the latter's inevitable defeat weird, unless Bach gets aid or something.
Really, Yamamoto is getting shown off too much for my liking. It's unbalanced. I like both characters and I think both are pretty cool but if you compare their attitudes along with the abilities demonstrated, it really doesn't come off as interesting.
Bach revealed a sword and a neat little circle thing that kills whatever goes in it(allegedly). He is consistently shocked in the fight.
Yamamoto has a sword that kills whatever it hits, a impenetrable cloak of flames that Bach has to use an ability to even be around, and now this raising the dead crap that doesn't make any sense without some rationalization. He is not concerned about this battle in the slightest.
When Yama kills/reaps someone either their soul gets trapped in his sword or their soul is somehow bound to his sword which gives him command over them. only thing that explains it.
Whatever the reason, i still don't get why you guys are saying it doesn't make sense, and based on there being no reasons given as to why you think it doesn't make sense, I'm guessing you guys don't know why either.
His sword is made of mother ****ing fire and has never once indicated some soul sealing shit. Never, not once. Not beyond any of the normal Zanpakuto soul purifying ability that they all have I guess.
The only connection I can make is that he burns the person and each time his flames become more powerful(he is essentially burning more things to keep it going) and somehow he has the ability to remove things he's burned in the past and bring them back...somehow. He's removing the fuel to his fire and bringing it back...I guess.
Point is I shouldn't have to be trying to guess. Hitsugaya pulled an ice clone straight out of his ass but at least that was made of, you know, ice and shit. I'm just honestly not seeing the connection between fire and necromancy.
