Bambietta is pretty much the only character in Bleach established in such a way that a tactical retreat would be out-of-character. I mean even Grimmjow retreated twice, albeit by Aizen's orders.

i honestly don't see any circumstance where Zaraki would retreat. Byakuya either.

But yea- you have temporary immortality, you don't waste it on the first foe you meet!

you guys wanted him to leave his friends to die for the off chance that his temporary power (power that may not be enough to win in the first place) would last long enough to defeat the strongest person we've seen in the entire manga?

I think it might have something to do with saving Momo on his way to Yhwach. Anyhow, as you could see in the chapter Tetsuzaemon got him covered, Yhwach is going down!

and like marwash22 pointed out, he can't just leave Bambietta to continue going around killing other soul reapers. and besides, he needed to have some payback. and it's not as if his immortality at the time would have let him win against Yhwach if they did fight; Yhwach is, after all, to the Quincy what Yamamoto was to the soul reapers.

okay.

Uhhh, not even close. No one can hold a finger to second release Ulq, full-hollow Ichigo, any of the upgraded forms of Aizen, or any of Ichigo's Dangai form or Final Getsuga. Those are all characters that have yet to be surpassed by any of the Fullbringers or the new Quincies.

didn't specify it, but i meant strongest villain, and i already think Bach is more powerful than Ulquiorra and Aizen. Aizen may have had more raw power in his butterfly form, but I'm betting Bach is just more difficult to defeat. I doubt he will simply be overpowered the way Aizen was. Just a hunch.

even so, even if he's below Aizen and Ulq, that makes him the 3rd strongest villain in the entire series... far above anything doggy Captain has shown capable of contending with.
