I mean, let's face it, his latest shikai power? It's based on a *Shinigami game* using reiatsu to make false images. That's not nearly as in-theme as "Call a color, hit a color" like the first time he used shikai.

It's not a Shinigami game, it's more or less the Japanese version of red-light-green-light, very popular.

As for the afterimage thing? It's in reference to how if you look at a shadow for too long then look at another surface you can see a brief afterimage because it's burned into your retinas. Apparently some kids could possibly have fun doing that?

Oregon trail would be so funny. Especially since the enemy has a gun! He can hunt for food.

It's a shinigami variant of the game. "Ok, now leave a reiatsu image..." was in the description.

Something involving both of them actually having to stop and go would be better.

Yea, I can see that.

Still, combining it with red-light-green-light... eeh. That's not one game, that's two games, with a power related twist thrown in.

Also, another thing: The color game had the rules apply to both. *This* game had the rules only apply to Shusui, his opponent could move around just fine. The last game, the opponent could use the rules too. This game, it's more, 'I make afterimages and you get stabbed.' Shouldn't it alternate who moves or something?

Point is, it's stretching things.

And considering his bullets tear huge chunks from his target, he probably won't get much food. Just like Oregon Trail.

Found my new name for Shunsui's Bankai.

Let me rephrase; it's a Japanese game similar to red-light-green-light. The game starts with one player looking away as the other moves towards them. When they turn their head and look, the moving player has to stop. If they're seen moving, they lose the game.

This was sorta the only way to make the game work.

Katen Kyokotsu makes the rules though, though Shunsui is the one who wields it.

The games can be quickly switched (Shunsui states that outright). Maybe even multiple games can be active.
Kyoraku used Irooni (colour) and Kageoni (shadow stepping) in quick succession against Starrk. He's used Daruma-san fell over, Kageokuri (afterimage), and Kageoni in quick succession against Lille.

The other shadow game involves staring at someone's shadow. Shunsui probably knew that he shouldn't stare at Lille and/or he used his sight more than his reikaku when looking at Lille.

Also, Shunsui's Bankai doesn't really sound like a game at all. Sounds more like he's directing a theatre play.

So Kyoraku's bankai is actually a "Hell hath no fury" deal? Also more "no you" going on in this fight so there's that.

Wow, throwback to the Muramasa arc... Didn't think it'd get recognized by the manga.

And it looks like this post is still true:

But, this is Bleach.

Person A: I have a super duper undefeatable power Y!

Person B: I just so happen to have a counter to super duper undefeatable power Y called power X!!!

Person A: I knew you had that so that's why I can use counter-X power Z!!!

Person B: My power is not susceptable to counter X power Z because I have upgraded my power X to level twwwwwoooo!

And so forth.

What if his Bankai has a counter to this and he's not really dead? WEEEE!

I don't even understand Shunsui's Bankai at this point.

So... First Dan. All wounds inflicted upon Shunsui shall appear on the opponent. Apparently the opponent is unable to die until the end of the play. Clear and straightforward.

Second Dan. The opponent is stricken with a fatal illness out of nowhere, with no cause or defense. Odd, moving on.

Third Dan. Both Shunsui and the opponent are drowned into an infinite sea of water. What?

Fourth Dan. Shunsui uses a white, undodgeable, unblockable thread to split the neck of the opponent, from which an infected bubble oozes out and explodes, taking their head off. Shunsui has no physical wounds but starts bleeding for no reason.

This seems ridiculously broken. I'm sorry, why was Aizen an issue? Why was FGT necessary? How is Ryuujin Jakka's power more frightening than this one? This Bankai literally erases all capacity to fight.

Well it seems to be falling so I guess it is possible to fight against it? This is the strangest Bankai so far.

You should sit down with Kubo and the producers to help them better write the story out. 🙂 Then maybe we could avoid absurdly confusing situations like the one you describe above.

So I'm going to guess that Shunsui will have an even more inexplicably broken ability attached to his bankai that will counter this guy's counter to Shunsui's bankai which was activated to counter the had behind the sternritter powers. 😐

I am now sorry I ever complained about Mayuri's bankai

Fighter 1: I have defeated you! Now you're dead!

Fighter 2: That's what you think! I can regenerate!

- Almost every battle in Bleach

Even Wolverine's got to be facepalming at this sheer absurdity.

Yeah, this is getting pretty dumb. Either Shunsui will die from what'shisface's stupid Tyranny boy-esque attack, or he's going to have some even more broken bankai ability, that kills him and his opponent, or just regenerates him. In which case, I'd call shenanigans for him losing an eye permanently.

I feel like Shunsui's Bankai ruins Bleach combat. Even if it's OP, it has to be something that can be used in combat, not render combat void. In that way, I like Lile's abilities. I don't like Shunsui's anymore.

Who are you referring to, as "Lile"?

I actually like that part of his bankai though. It renders combat useless, which is something very befitting of the captain who hates fighting the most.

I just think it could have been executed way better.

Lille Barro. The Sternritter he's fighting.

Oh. 😘

I hate that guy. Total rip off of Naruto abilities, if you ask me. His special eye ability makes him intangible? A special water technique that allows him to stay alive as a form of gas, as well as commence attacks while in such a state? Why not just give him a Susano'o at this point, and have him kill Shunsui with Amaterasu, ffs. ❌

Now Lille can do the Jigen-Tou. Huh.

Nanao isn't useless? Weird.

So Kyoraku was pulling a Tousen?

So first Nemu and now Nanao for getting upgrades. Wonder who will be next.
