Hmmm.

I'm of mixed opinion. While the physical side of things would definitely be as Newjak described, there is also the inherent mental side of things.
Writer & Novelist Terry Prattchet outlined it best in his book 'Equal Rites'.

If you take on animal form, how do you expect to do anything ? It takes birds weeks (if not months) to learn to fly on trial and error alone, so don't expect to go 'burning through the sky at 200 degrees'. Or a Bat ? The weak vision would be disorientating, the Radar even more confusing. What about creatures which don't use any stimuli we (as humans) are fully familiar with ? IE : Musks , Heat sensing, Vibrations etc.

I'm not trying to crush your ideas Pycrazy, just trying to look at things from a realistic viewpoint, I apologize if I appear overly abrasive and insulting.

I've also heard rumors of real world scientists trying to harness anti-matter. Seriously.

My science is kind of shaky, but wouldn't Anti-matter explode rather violently ?

Yes... and it's apparently that violent reaction which can be harnessed, and used as a power source.

Here's a write up on antimatter, and some of it's proposed uses:

This true and reminds me a lot of the animorphes books that were out years ago. They often dealt with those specific issues by stating that it's all natural to that specific animals mind. As long as you get an old enough specimen.

My own personal bias towards shapeshifting has always been how the human mind would fair if it were shifted to fit into another animal's brain capacity. Would we lose all of our ability to think like a human?

They have been since the 60's except it at the moment it takes a whole years worth of the USA power to produce enough energy to power a light bulb. There are rumours that there could be a million odd tons of it in our Solar system, but its only speculation.

The thing with the Quantum vacuum energy is that its readily available at all points in space. I've heard that each cubic centimeter of Vacuum has enough energy in it to boil all the oceans away.

If you think Mr terrific Sphere's are cool you should see John Horus "Gun" in Black Summer

If you want a way they could levitate the spheres read this article ....

With Sophisticate Nano tech, it would be easy to accomplish all the other stuff.

You could use nano technology to change the molecular structure of your body, while maintaining your consciousness in cyber space. You would then have the physical characteristics of an animal and the mental capacity's of a human. You need a large power source for the transformation, and you have the Ethical problem of being sort of killed during the process.

It's that easy

Again though, simply moving would be difficult. Let alone being able to use the forms abilities successfully.

And the being invisible to technology thanks to his T-Mask? That is a pretty interesting application that I have not seen in that many other characters. Any real world headway being made?

Um I don't know how you come to this conclusion. You be basically be re made into an animal form, but your consciousness would be retained. The only draw back is finding a power source that is capable of breaking down you're entire structure and remaking it. If the nano tech was solar powered it would maybe feasible.

I suppose kind of cyber space telepathy could allow for this. You could use nano bots to blind the technologies sensory equipment from your wear abouts.

In-fact there are very few things you actually can't do with sophisticated nano technology. As the device are self replicating and mentally controlled, they are basically the 'Power Cosmic' or telekinesis. The only things they limited by are their size (i.e. they cannot effect subatomic particles that aren't electrons) and the laws of thermo dynamics. I.e. they can't create energy so they must get their power supply from another means. There's a Star Trek episode when the Enterprise crew meets a set of beings claiming to be the Gods of myth. They perform various feats that are indistinguishable from magic, but you find that they are just controlling advanced nano tech.

Mix the levitation with something like this:
http://www.ssl.umd.edu/projects/undergrad/2004/osiris/index.html
And this:
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2005/06/050619191628.htm

And add in some extra things (hacking capabilities, connection to satallites/internet, and an offensive system of a limited kind), and I think a T-Sphere lite design could be produced in the here and now.

What did you guys think about the "sonar" devices in Batman the Dark Knight?

I think... it would be confusing as hell... the human brain was not designed to process 360 vision.

Lucius drastically over reacted to it. First of all this is Bruce and he knows him and knows what he's about, secondly he should have obviously seen why he was doing this and that the task at hand was by far more important that the possibility of invading peoples privacy, like that never happens with our government anyway, and third he could've just had Bruce secure it so that even to access it would require the access codes of Bruce, Lucius, and Alfred and that's just some safety that could install.

If I had been Bruce I'd would have said "Oh your right this is wrong. What was I thinking trying to find joker to save the city by over looking a petty privacy issue no one would ever even know about. Yea your right, this is wrong, I won't use it. Lets just let the joker keep killing people while we try and find him by just looking around till we get lucky" ๐Ÿ™„

As for the realism of the technology itself, yea it was a bit far fetched but I the jokers constant coincidental luck that things just kept falling into place for him was what disturbed me more so. Not really bitching just noting it. The movie was still exceptional.

If ya really think about there have been people throughout history who have had some sort of power.. Jesus could actually levitate(walkonwater).. SOme Saxon and Viking Beerkers had strength close to Cap's or better as well as reflexes and speed plus their combat skills are legendary...
But it all depends on genetics for strength and superspeed... There are genetics out there that could possible allow the person to achieve superhuman strength, damn near superhuman speed, as well as levitation/flying through xtreme training and serious mental harnessing of themselves. Certain people are gifted through The Creator/God which allows people to tap into what they can really do
As far as technology goes... Soon Just about any of these powers will be possible with G.E. n other types of surgeries.
But right now there are guys out there who are close to superhuman strength like Dennis Rogers who is 168lbs and can hold bac 2jet force planes from taking off in either direction or Arthur Saxon who could lift 400lbs up overhead with one hand or support numerous tons and walk around with it... so some of this is humanly possible
A superhero is possible but it wouldn't be a common occurence.

No one will be levitating or flying in my lifetime.
