I don't know if this has been posted here yet or not 😬

It's a What If of if Namor had joined the FF

Basically, everyone ends up happier than they are when he doesn't

Sub Mariner #1 preview with text...

Looking forward to this.

Also, anyone read that recent Marvel Adventures Fantastic Four issue? Some good Namor stuff there, he owns Thing and Johnny.

Cool, thanks. 😄

Only few days 'till the full issue of Sub-Mariner #1. fear

So at this moment i'm thinking the mini series is gonna end with (stop reading here if you don't wanna hear my idea) Namor and Atlantis moving to an unknown location, and faking their death and destruction, to throw everyone off their trail. Either in a bid to prepare for war, or lose contact with surface world altogether.

DarkCrawler did you know the Alpha Flight character Llan is responsible for the destruction of Atlantis thousands of years ago? Oh my 😖hifty:

Thats impressive actually. The odds of anyone surviving should have been almost nil if Llan were attacking Atlantis.

Indeed, but on-panel evidence of him actually doing it hasn't been seen or shown just a reference in the handbook. He is also potentially responsible for the Collective killing Alpha Flight too

Hmm, don't know. I think the Marvel people stated that Namor would have a bigger part in MU after this mini...

Really? I always though that the reason for that was unknown. Cool, I guess, Llan is no chump. 🙂

Animated Namor...

Awesome. 😄

So DC, what'd you think of the first issue?

I think it was...

Spoiler:

Freaking great. Especially for a setup issue.

It gave a nice plot in the beginning, with lot of mysteries. Showed what happened to Nitro. Also, I think Namor is a bit more unstable again "This is not a democracy" seems to go towards the "ruling with an iron fist" category which Namor did in pre-1980's. I think the dialogue was pretty much spot on too. And more importantly, it is not the same old "Namor is exiled from Atlantis" plot again, it's different.

And MOST importantly, Namor is a major badass. Stabbing a guy and then calmly walking into discussion? Awesome. That stab moment is SO going into a sig.

And I also want to see if that battle armor does anything besides looking pretty cool.

All in all, I would give 8/10 to the writing, and 8/10 to the art. Briones draws a great Namor. Can't wait for next issues if they continue to be as good.

By the way

Spoiler:
who do you think the cloaked guy is?
I think it is
Spoiler:
Doctor Doom.
.

Spoiler:
Doom. Interesting. Could be him, but somehow i kinda doubt it.

I liked the issue, it has me looking forward to the rest, alot. Though i didn't think it was anything spectacular, even for a setup issue. It certainly wasn't sub-par though, like i said, it has me looking forward to the rest, which is exactly what a setup issue should do.

Spoiler:
I knew you'd sig the stabbing moment, that was great. I too thought the characterization was good and Namor came off looking great throughout the issue.

I'm also digging the art alot. Atlantis had this epic scale when Briones drew it aswell, which i feel a place like Atlantis should always have. The suit at the end looks good also.

I'm hoping this sells very well, and leads into an ongoing or another mini. Namor is ripe for the picking at the moment, it'd be stupid not to capitalize on it.

Well, I mainly base it on...

Spoiler:
A) The guy calling Stark a "sniveling dog" and the overall way he talks. Not many people who would use that kind of description besides Doom. At least not anyone Namor knows thus far.

B) Brown eyes. Doom has brown eyes.

C) The face seems to be scarred, based on the coloring near the eyes...might be just color though

D) He says that Namor is "old friend". It has to be someone Namor has known for long based on that, and since the guy seems to be a surface dweller, the only fitting person for that would be Doom.

As we know, Namor is probably the only person in the world who Doom has called a friend:

Plus he is probably the only acquaintance in surface that Namor has right now, and certainly the only one who might spy on shield.

On the other hand, it MIGHT be T'Challa, but he isn't really an old friend of Namor.
