thanks for all you have done for the sub-mariner. he deserves respect. for some reason or the other (and i have my theory) marvel has over looked the character to the point that their readers don't understand the importance of the character. sub-mariner is fortunate to have a friend such as you. i can only hope that marvel knows of this site and that it will influence them to give namor an on going series. thanks again...and keep up the great work. john

namor the sub-mariner is marvel's first super hero. marvel however shows the character zero respect. thanks for correcting this. i hope marvel begins to pay attention. sub-mariner used to be in marvel's top five strongest super heroes along with thor, herc, hulk and stronger than ben grimm. after the cancellation of sub-mariner's own title with issue #72 back in the early 70's, marvel seemed to lose interest in the character. even during the 72 issue run they did not seem to be able to decide what direction to take the character or how to write him. namor is marvel's most complex and interesting character. i guess he is just too difficult for marvel's writers to grasp. perhaps he is a tough sell to the general public because he is not always seen in a positive light. if marvel did a better job of promoting the fact that namor has what is best for atlantis at heart and some times atlantis and america have conflicting interests then perhaps it would be easier for the public to see namor's point of view. so many of the characters traits have not been fully explored or developed. his anger and angst should make him the poster boy for the post-punk fan boy world. his standing as an outsider no matter where he goes should as well. the fact that he is a minority in his own country should be exploited/explored as well. marvel seems to have no problem giving and increasing powers and abilities of their other characters, but it appears all they ever want to do is reduce namor's strength/abilities. they can not even make up their minds what his powers and abilities are!

I don't really believe Namor was ever truly among the strongest men in Marvel. The reason being that most of his best feats are in the area of moving large, seagoing vessels. But Thor, Hercules and Hulk do things bigger than that and sometimes have planet-moving instances. I doubt Namor could stand up to Gladiator whatsoever even underwater. Namor deserves respect compared to a big wimp like the Thing but not compared to Thor, Hercules or the Hulk.

vs thor, he has about 5 stalemates.he's stalmated modern thor aswell

vs hulk, somewhere along the line of 16............yeah, that much.he stalemated many versions of modern hulk.

vs herc, about 6. he recently stalmated him in incredible hercules #122.that was last month.

i would say he deserves his respect amongst them, considering.

Herc posibbly herc is portrayed as less then both of them.

i don't think he's their equal, but with a track record like that against them he can't be too far behind.

i think namor is better than herc though
