<<i understand...but the fact is his feats deemed PIS/CIS by a lot of the haters on here actually take place more consistantly than his lower end showings....read the first 100 issues of wolverine vol.1 and you'll see what I'm talking about....it's not more common for him to be hindered by such things as much as it is uncommon....
but I do see your point..>>
what's shakin' jinzin? to your point - i recently (while re-boxing my books) looked through that wolvie series. the thing that surprised me (and i have say the first . . . 65 issues there-bouts) was the fact that wolvie rarely fought anyone much ABOVE street level guys. seriously, roughhouse and bloodsport, tigershark, hulk . . . and i can't think of many else offhand. he fought a LOT of soldiers and ninja/yakuza types, had tons of bar fights (oh, he fought that demon that beat him up pretty bad in the gehenna stone (??) arc) but not a lot of 'tough fights'. looking back, i'm not sure why i BOUGHT that stuff. based on just the books i have (not counting the hundreds of xmen i also have) i DO find that he tends to overrated on this site at times. i know he's had something of an upgrade to his healing factor, so he's tougher than he was, but there are still times when i shake my head. in that first appearance he shatters those chains, in a one-shot against apoc, he's tied with rope and needs to use FIRE to break free!
anyway, don't think i'm bashing or piling on, just explaining my own personal issues with the character and how he's portrayed. it's the inconsistent nature that makes him so hard for al the wolvie fans to defend. he has a lot of great showings, but a lot of other showings that throw them into doubt.
i don't envy you trying to defend him all the time.
