grinning and bearing it assures that things will not change 😬

I don't disagree at all. Actually when i comes to standing up and fighting the goood fight I am ussuallynin the front row, but I feel pretty defeated regarding this issue.

It seems that all the common sense in the world doesn't matter here.I also don't have even the remotest faith in the ability of people to unite and do something about it. A few greedy people want more money. They got the oil and the influence and we foot the bill. Sucks, big time.

yeah, saddly i agree 🙁

I really think thats pretty arogant thinking to assume no other country in the world has SUV's, fast food stores, and shopping malls. As if no other country could ever dream to afford such luxuries things like DVD's! No other country in the world has people rich enough to buy those only we do!

So youre saying if someone doesnt like the way the government is they should just shut up and live with it? I'm sorry I cant agree, if the gas prices are high you should complain about it, you should voice your concerns and try to get your government to try to do something about it.

I don't recall saying that the US is the only nation with SUV's and fast food. I do recall saying that we're spoiled with all the luxuries we have. We're a nation of mass comsuption. We buy more and we get indebt more than any other nation. At least that is my observation. Every year the number of people going bankrupt increases. Which points out that we're not responsible in our spending. We don't manage our budget properly or we know how to manage our budgets properly. That doesn't mean we're stupid. It means that we need to take control of our own economy. When gas prices rise we get hit in the wallet. If you're a person that manages his/her own economy you would't be whining about high prices. Sure, it isn't the consumers fault. But, accepting resposibility also helps.

No, you have every right to voice your opinion and you shouldn't be censor. But what do you get really get by whining so much? Nothing but a headache and anger. That's not healthy and good for you. What people need to do is to learn to balance themselves. This means less spending on commodities and stretching your dollars. There really isn't a need to buy, buy, and more buy. Saving may not be easy but people should really watch their money. When we hit hard times you need to be prepare. Borrowing money and abusing credit cards is going to get you into deep trouble. That is what is happening. And we in America really need to learn to watch our money more closely.

There's an easy solution to all of this..when it comes close to election time..make sure you don't vote for Pro Bush Senators, Governors, Representatives..etc..We need to get this a hole out of office, before the US completely goes down the crapper..

I've noticed lately that the hybrid electric/gas cars are becoming increasingly advertised, and especially the 'Synergy' cars, I believe they are called; they are the ones where every time you brake, the friction creates energy which recharges the battery. It's half gas/half electricity as well.

Hopefully--and I think there's a good chance--these types of cars become more and more popular.

I want one, myself. I just can't afford it.

Update! Fuel prices in my town have now hit $1.25 a liter. f*cking ridiculous. hybrid cars are going to be the way of the future, the Swiss have produced a car that can travel the distance of a round the equator trip on only 8 liters of fuel, good on them.

Greedy Bastards.

I can't imagine gas over 3 dollars a gallon...but 6 as in Norway would kill me....I wouldn't be able to drive anywhere...I'd have to car pool with lots of people....People would probably buy motorcycles.

I remember vaguely, and my parents talk of times when a car could go and go on $20 a week with no trouble. These days it costs almost that much to do ones daily business, here in Australia at least. It's madness, and one of the reasons I have avoided the whole car thing in favour of more economic means of travel (our public transport system is quite good I think). Utter madness I say.

Just last night on the news they were talking about Qantas, the airlines posting excellent profits, but how they were still saying low ticket prices and jobs were still at risk because of rising fuel prices. It ominous when even a persons job security is affected by the old black gold, Texas tea etc

Depends. The Cityrail service in NSW is absolute crap, and I take it to school every day. And people are taking the car to work now because of the unreliable trains and buses, thus increasing traffic 😬

yeah my old man used to own a valiant and he could drive it for a week on $10. you cant drive to the corner in a Valiant on $10

it was like that here in the U.S. just 10 years ago........

We got a motorcycle. Gets much better gas mileage than the truck. Of course, when it rains, we take the truck, but that hasn't been too often lately. Plus the motorcycle is more fun. 😄

What type? I'm looking at a superbike myself.
