In the past week I gave monetary relief to Africa. To Darfur in particular. Not something too big but at least it feeds a child and keeps it from starving for a month.
ok ?
On the contrary i did not give a single penny to Katrina relief and i dont have anything to feel bad about.
As for your pathetic Sean Penn analogy i have no comment.
Now tell me, why does not the American nation do the same for African nations ?
For the sake of not opening another thread...
Okay, reporting live from 100 miles from the eyewall of Hurricane Ophelia - conditions are deteriorating. We're getting heavy gusts and rain but still had to report to work this morning. BTW, it takes something really special to cut the power in this major manufacturing plant that I'm in right now. The last time we lost all power was when a squirrel got fried at our energy expense.
Sorry debs, but I think this is going to do a "brush by" here, ala Hurricane Alex from 2004. It's going to go back out to the Atlantic in no time. **Correction - it's moving so slow, it will be 2 days, but that's where it's going.
Don't worry too much, though. I hear in February you might get some snow flurries up there.

OH JUST LOVE THE SNOW.......

Apparently your former residents do, too. My two next door neighbors are both from Michigan, and they moved here largely to enjoy our modest half a foot of annual snowfall.
I lived in southern Ohio for a few years....not enough snow....could only make a snow man about 15 inches high... 😂
And now more from the Ophelia blog:
Ophelia's eyewall is coming onshore, so the eye's probably about 70 miles from where I'm sitting. This is an extremely slow moving storm, meaning there's going to be water, water everywhere until about Friday. Already, behind our factory, a small lake has formed. I'm leaving to go home at 3:30 today instead of 4:30, because I can't drive 85 MPH on the way home - more like 45 today.
Not much but its water damage was quite bad in some parts and it only was a cat 1.
It really shows you must not try to ride out a storm if it is at cat 4,5 strength. A cat 4 and cat 5 has a very high chance of killing you. Heck Hurricane Jeanne was a cat 3 and it almost killed me (by flying debris)and my 2 friends. I will never ever ride out a hurricane again even a small one. It was total hell and it caused major damage and i fell like slapping people who say "if i survived Camille ill get through this."
By the way the person who said that died in Katrina. Hurricane especially of Cat 3 strength or higher must be taken very seriously.
Katrina was no means a regular hurricane. It gave high winds all the way from Baton rouge, La to Pensacola Florida. Thats an incredible field. The damage field is from west of New Orleans to Mobile. A massive cat 3 cat 4 hurricane is much worse then a small compact cat 4/5 hurricane.
Now at least if a hurricane of significant strength ever comes to the US again people will likely go running now.
