Hmmmm. Not really.
Although one creation myth has Atum masturbate the matter from which the world was created into being (since no other gods were available suitable for procreation)
Another has Isis turn into a kite (bird, not actual kite) in order to conceive Horus with the dead and phallus-less Osiris.
Egyptians were far more liberal with sexual ideas.

indeed. But it wasn't Atum, it was Ra. There is a difference. Although, considering there are as many creation myths in teh ancient Egyptian religin as there are citites and tribes, I could be confusing them.

Actually it is can be one, the other, both or even neither.
Atum, in his role as the hidden god who created himself. The creation myth in Egyptian culture is usually seen as solar - and Re is the solar deity. However the trinity nature of the big three - Ptah, Re and Atum means that they often end up interchanging in certain myths.
Depending on the version we have Atum inert in Nun (the primordial waters) prior to the raising of the primordial mount - upon which either sits an egg or a flower - emerging from the flower/egg is the creator god - the sun - either Re or Atum - or both: Atum-Re. This forms the basis of the Heliopolis Theology which is the more common creation myth. Of course there are other versions.

i know the myths. I'm not trying to come across as insolent. But I have spent the last 20 years reading about them. If it weren't so gay of me, I'd invite you to see my bed room. It's a shrine to my study of Egyptian mythology. I've got statues and everything.

Oh, I'm not doubting you knowledge of them, you seem to be one of the most knowledgable people outside of university classes I have know of on the subject - and it is a fascinating subject, one I enjoy studying a great deal (though not as much as Roman history.)
It was good - this semester I had a elective unit available, and managed to get into an Ancient Egyptian Religion 300 level course taught by Dr Boyo Ockinga. Great lecturer.

I'm just kidding. I appreciate your acknowledment of the years I've spent reading papers, books and research on teh subject. It is fascianting. If I could make money doing it, I'd spend the rest of my life digging up dinosaur bones or chipping away at egyptian ruins.
