Grace before a meal

I should make a habit out of listening to Grace before a meal...

I have my Grace after many meals 🙂.

Personally I dislike the idea of grace, of taking away some recognition from the achievements of people in general.

To be perfectly honest I see no reason to thank God for the money I earned to buy the food I cooked and I served and I ate. When God starts delivering the food to me then I might consider it. Until that time no grace before meals.

That is because of the pride of life and you have no God cognizance.

1 John 2:16
For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life —is not of the Father but is of the world.

Proverbs 16:18
Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.

Proverbs 21:24
A proud and haughty man—“Scoffer” is his name; He acts with arrogant pride.

Proverbs 29:23
A man’s pride will bring him low, But the humble in spirit will retain honor.

Doesn't seem to change the fact we are thanking a diety who did not contribute to getting the food, cooking it, serving it or eating.

I can accept, if one believes, thanking God in general for creating the universe - but thanking him for the things I achieve? That I work for and earn? Tell me what exactly did God do to derserve thanks for the hand made veal tortalina with a white wine sauce that I will be cooking up for dinner tomorrow night?

I'm curious to see how many of you still do it. What do you say? On occasions when I remenber to say grace I say something like this:

Thank You Lord for this meal and Bless us all with food everyday...amen

I have never done such before, although I have eaten with people who chose to say grace/prayer or similar.

I do it in my head.........I say "Wow, thanks".......I do it for everything.

Hardly at all if I even remember to.

in Jesus Name.

it's a good idea to say this before you do anything. In fact, I say it during meals, masturbation, a bowel movement, a shower and before I brush my teeth. It would be easier to get it put on a tee shirt, but I prefer to say it to myself constantly so I feel closer to Jesus all the time.

I don't either, so that makes it all right.

Rubba-dub-dub, thanks for the grub.

Edit: Just kidding. Like I said elsewhere, I don't believe in God, so I don't say grace.

I have this really odd feeling that I do things you all don't do..................LOL

Don't you all go out side and see everything and say in your head.....god, thanks for these smells........mm pretty flowers, oh and thanks trees, and thank you sun for making me feel so good today........and oh, god, thank you rain.........my lawn needed that.......and oh, thanks for that smile I just got....Oh, and thanks for answering that question so quickly..............you mean I'm the only one here that does that?? 😑

Don't you talk to everything?? And give it thanks for just being there???

*feels like I should hide under a bush now* Thank you bush for being there for me to hide in.........lol

It is humans who are responsible for that for which we should be thankful, and therefore it is humans whom we should be thanking.

I say grace before meals but only when my grandfather is in the house.

Bless this food to our use, and us to thy service, and make us ever mindful of the needs of others. Amen

Or something like that. I quite enjoy doing it to be honest. Not sure why.

My friend at her house says "Blessed be the food we are about to eat and the drinks we are going to drink"Amen! If I am at my dad's house we say a hebrew pray before any meal.jm
