Most epic song?

Do you even have taste? I swear you like obscure Japanese singers, because they're Japanese, and Chris Brown.

-AC

She's not even obscure. Hikaru is like a Japanese answer to Britney Spears only a little better. That's not saying much obviously as both Spears and Hikaru are terrible.

I think you're spot on with the "because they're Japanese" part.

I forgot to add to the topic. If I had to pick something, I'd probably go with Martius/Nauticus II by Pain of Salvation. The entire BE album is a candidate though.

Honorable mentions go to

Hun Jord...- Sigur Ros
All Along the Watchtower- Jimi Hendrix
"3" and "Deadwing" - Porcupine Tree
Hallowed be Thy Name - Iron Maiden
Existance - Front Line Assembly
Many songs from Kow Otani
Many songs from Pain of Salvation

So she is obscure to the rest of the world. I know I don't follow Japanese mainstream.

Nice to see Pain of Salvation.

Hikaru is pretty well known worldwide though. That's not just a Japanese sensation.

Well known to people who know music, yes.

She's not somebody you'd stroll out onto the street and hear being mentioned. Not here anyway.

Umi Says - Mos Def.

That could be a difference between Britain and North America though. Her international presence seems to be growing though. 4 million sales outside of Japan makes her reasonably big.

Cult bands have that kind of sale though, hardly well known.

Yeah. I'm surprised they haven't shown up more.

True. Point taken.

Does she have a cult following. I find that hard to believe in pop music. Though, it is plausible that she would outside of Japan, I still find it hard to believe. She hit the Billboard Hot 100 which usually means you aren't a cult attractor if all you are making is pop.

Just so we're clear, that's just your personal opinion and not one that's widely accepted if at all.

One could actually say that you're factually wrong, but I won't, b/c it would only fuel the fire of your obliviousness.

Just so we're clear, I never claimed it was widely accepted did I?

No, no you can't. Popularity doesn't mean she's good. It means she sells records.

Actually I could. It's fact that she's on a whole different level than Britany Spears.

They're nothing alike and to compare the 2 is idiotic.

Did I say anything about Popularity? I don't think that I did. This goes way beyond popularity. That's not even what's being discussed.

If you think she's on a whole different level of quality, you couldn't say anything for a fact, because that's subjective perception.

Sorry to inform you of that.

You found empirical data that gauges the quality of a subjective art form and can prove that Utada Hikaru is factually better than Britney Spears. I simply must see this. I am not being snide here either. This is pretty groundbreaking. Would you care to explain your findings?

I disagree but you apparently can prove otherwise. If you prove me wrong, I have no choice but to agree with you.

Insinuation my friend, insinuation. However, I'll drop it. I apologize.

Now on to these facts....

One could say it, but one would be wrong.

You'll drop it? Good.

Not really.

Can you prove that she makes factually better quality music than Britney Spears?

No, you cannot, because it's entirely subjective and therefore literally impossible. Better not say such things.

Unless you're the world's first with evidence, in which case let's see it.
