Most epic song?

O Fortuna is the most epic of epic songs, epspecially the Carl Orff version.

Ok, I've got a few -

Every Heart by BoA

God Knows by Ayana Hirano (this may be spelt wrong)

Take a Bow, Assasin, Knights of Cydonia, and Supermassive Black Hole by Muse

Flight of the Valkeryies

Duel of Fates

One Winged Angel

Cannon in D Major by Bach (cant spell his last name) (Yall forget the classics)

The Beginning is the End is the Beginning and The Mellon Collie and the Infinite Saddness by Smashing Pumpkins

In the Gadda of Eda by Iron Butterfly

Stairway to Heaven by Led Zepplin

The Pokemon Theme

The Hamtaro Theme

The Jurrasic Park Theme

Unforgiven, Sad But True, One, Master of Puppets, Sanaterium, The Memory Remains, and Enter Sandman by Mettalica

Hanger 18 by Megadeath

Sayaendo by NewS

The Hell March (If you don't know this song, go out and buy Command & Conquer: Red Alert, Red Alert 2, and for the sake of getting the best computer game ever, Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge)

And last but not least; Phenomenon by Thousand Foot Krutch

one of those classical songs is probably the most epic song. I listened to this piece of music the other day, it was 42 minutes long. Thats fukin epic

There is not one song by led zeppelin that should even be considered "epic." Amon Amarth, on the other hand, is the most epic band ever! 99.9% of their songs are epic as hell. Go check Amon Amarth out if you haven't already.

You Can't Always Get What You Want by the stones
Roundabout by Yes
Hurricane by Bob Dylan

Most Prog Rock/Metal bands have epic songs.

Television - Marquee Moon.

Clubbed to Death - Rob Dougan

The Day The World Went Away - NIN

Hoppipolla - Sigur Ros

For me,

It's got to be Rooster by Alice In Chains.

Don't argue with me on this one unless you have cold, hard evidence to back you up:

"A Day In the Life" - The Beatles

My Defense: The almost unnatural-sounding yet rhythmic flow of the song as it progresses from the few simple, initial instruments to the grandiose crescendo of the symphony in its first climax;

then john, george, paul, and ringo throw an alarm clock at our heads complete with a story about someone going to work and a series of aaaahhhs;

this is all concluded with one more verse, an even greater orchestral climax, and what is the most recognizable sound ever in the history of music, next to even Beethoven's 5th Symphony or Vivaldi's Four Seasons in my opinion: three pianos simultaneously striking multiple octaves of the E-major chord.

If this is not considered "epic", then today's society has no idea whatsoever what it is missing!

Though I have to admit, these are really good choices as well, just not the same "epic" that I look for 🙂

Definitely right up there. Stairway to Heaven, You Can't Always Get What You Want and Hurricane are up there, too, if we're just talking about contemporary music. Otherwise, it'd be Ride of the Valkyries or O Fortuna probably.

There are some soundtracks that are epic, like the Halo series, but personally I don't believe that the most epic songs would be found in media outside of the music genre (i.e. video games, movies, tv shows, etc.)

Other songs to think of:
Two Step - Dave Matthews Band
Roundabout - Yes
Killing in the Name Of - Rage Against the Machine
Betrayal - Tim Reynolds
Time - Pink Floyd
Let Me Out - Electric Mary
War Pigs - Black Sabbath
Bad - U2
Viva La Vida - Coldplay (you don't have to be a wuss to listen to them!)
Empire State of Mind - Jay-Z
Dead Wrong - The Notorious B.I.G.
Cocaine - Eric Clapton
Ina Gadda Da Vida - Iron Butterfly
5th Symphony - Ludwig Van Beethoven
Jump Around - House of Pain

It's qute a variety, I know.

Mine is Bohemian Rhapsody and Requiem for a Dream.

Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen (A Night at the Opera)
Viva La Vida by Coldplay (Viva La Vida)
Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin (Led Zeppelin IV)
Scenes from an Italian Restaurant by Billy Joel (The Stranger)

By epic I mean in scope or ambition. It doesn't have to be a long song, or it can be. For example: Reflection by Tool or Reise, Reise by Rammstein.

Go.

Hallowed be thy Name - Iron Maiden
