A question for you USA-haters ??

This board seems to have had alot of "USA haters" this year especially. Talking about how bad, selfish,cruel,etc we are! Now that we have had a huge disaster of our own, it will be interesting to see how many other countries come out to "aide" us this time around! The facts are the WE are ALWAYS one of the biggest contributors in aide to other countries in "times of need". I for one say we do way more for other countries than we do for ourselves and its NOT even appreciated or respected!! I am sick of it! Let's see some other country step up for once! How much money do you think will come from other countries into the USA for disaster relief........?????........I bet NOT one measly dollar!

You may give lots of aid, but it is all proportional... you give much less aid per person than most other countries.

I see you all miss the point(Just like I KNEW you would!) You proved my point to a "T"!! Britanna- that's just plain funny! Let me give you an example: Let's say you are poor and I am a millionare and this other guy is from the middle class(makes $40,000 a year). I give you $200,000 and the other guys gives you $5000. WHO is HELPING you MORE?? The answer is soooooooo easy for anyone with a BRAIN! Even though the middle class guy gives more proportionally, you will get WAY more out of the $200,000!!! So take your little arguement some where else, where it makes some sense......like "Crazy World"!

In absolute terms the millionaire is helping more. In relative terms the 40k man is helping more.

Relative, SMellative!!! Bottom line , the millionare's money goes MUCH further and THUS helps MORE(the same way that the money that the USA goes further)!! Do you understand the concept of money.... how much is "relative-money" going to buy you?? Maybe you shop in the stores that Britanna owns in "Crazy World"???

Anyways that is just an outright LIE, The USA is in the top tier of Aid giving in the world in any amount ,proportion,etc!

My goodness. You really are an angry little person. If I'm not allowed to express my opinion in a forum with the purpose of allowing people to express their opinion.... many apologies. 😆
I am simply saying that America is not giving aid in propotion to her wealth.
I'll give you some advice- be tolerant of other people's views and don't ridicule them in such an overt manner... you'll do yourself no favours. 🙂

Think how much MORE the USA could help if it increased its aid budget to the same 'per-person' rate as most other countries...

The US in terms of % of GNP is the last in the 22 OECD countries - giving 0.16% GNP in official development aid. Up until 2001 Japan was the biggest donor in absolute monetary terms.

lets look at the last big disaster in the world..the tsunami...the biggest aid givers were....drum roll please...germany and australia...who both donated more than double the amount that the US gave...

You are right though on one thing... I am angry and I think alot of other americans are too! WE are getting sick and tired of doing all we do for other countries , but still taking all the crap that gets flung our way. What a sorry state the world would be in if we DIDNT send any aide in times of disaster. How would that be, since our money doesnt matter because its not in proportion???

Yes, the USA gives aid- we all agree that it'd be dreadful if it didn't. But surely, it's be so much better if it gave more in proportion to its wealth?

To Jaden- where did you get your info?? I would say from some biased source trying to fixed the figures to put the USA in a bad light! Anyways it the amount of money given NOT the proportion of GNP! Like I said earlier ,REAL dollars gor further than "relative" or "proportional" dollars, try checking it out, its called the real world!!
