Wolverine VS Forgotten Realms Characters
Wolverine with adamantium
VS
Drizzt Do'Urden in his "Hunter" persona, with his normal weapons and equipment.
AppearanceDrizzt stands 5'4" and weighs about 130 pounds (59 kg). His handsome features are sharp and well proportioned; his white hair is long, flowing, and smooth. Perhaps Drizzt's most striking feature, though, are his eyes, which are a lavender hue (quite different from the drow race's typical red, even when he uses his infravision, which normally causes eyes to glow red) and seem to glow fiercely when he is angry or determined. He normally wears a fur-collared green forest cloak and high black boots. It has been more than 20 years since he first(DR 1347) ventured into the surface world, and at present(DR 1370s) he is in the neighborhood of 140 years old, still young adult in elf standard.
Personality
Outwardly calm and composed, Drizzt still has a burning rage with him, a legacy of the time he spent living in the wilds of the Underdark where he had to survive through his skills alone. While he has mastered that side of his psyche—he refers to it as "the Hunter"—it can still surface when Drizzt is hard-pressed and under great emotional duress. In all other cases, he is the cool head, the peacemaker, and is always willing to avoid a fight if he can (unless with races such as orcs or goblins). When the situation calls for it, however, he can be incredibly daring. In fact, several of his friends are convinced that someday he will leap into a situation that will land Drizzt in real trouble. He harbors a deep love for the surface world, and cherishes his place in it.
Magical Items
Drizzt's favourite weapon is the scimitar, and he carries two magical blades, called Twinkle and Icingdeath. He also carries a magical figurine which summons his black panther companion Guenhwyvar. He wears a pair of bracers of speed on his calves, making him incredibly quick on his feet. He chose to wear them on his legs instead of his arms because when the enchantment combined with his natural speed, his sword-swings became too fast for him to control. Drizzt's attire is generally a cloth tunic, tough pants, and soft boots. He wears an enchanted chainmail shirt, which the King of Mithril Hall had made for the drow personally.
Weapons
Drizzt has two scimitars, Icingdeath and Twinkle. In the novel The Crystal Shard, he also carried a few throwing daggers. He has also used a short bow on occasion. In the other novels, however, his only weapons are his two scimitars.
Icingdeath
Icingdeath is one of Drizzt's magic scimitars, (the other being Twinkle). He found Icingdeath in the treasure pile of the dragon that the weapon was named after. Icingdeath is first mentioned in The Crystal Shard.
The hilt of the scimitar is of black adamantite and the blade is made of silver with a diamond edge. The weapon absorbs fire and heat, protecting its wielder against fire. According to Dungeons & Dragons 2nd edition rules, it is a "frostbrand scimitar +3", although in the more recent 3.0 ruleset is a slightly more streamlined "+3 frost scimitar".
Ingeloakastimizilian, more commonly known as Icingdeath, was a white wyrm living in an ice cave in a part of the Icewind Dale glacier called Evermelt. It was slain by Wulfgar, with Drizzt as a witness, by knocking loose a great stalactite from the ceiling and into the dragon's neck.
"… uncovering a gem-encrusted sword pommel, its black adamantite hilt masterfully sculpted into the likeness of the toothed maw of a hunting cat." -The Crystal Shard
Twinkle
Twinkle is Drizzt's defensive scimitar (his offensive scimitar is Icingdeath, see above). Drizzt received Twinkle from the mage Malchor Harpell when he was chasing Artemis Entreri after Entreri had captured Regis in Streams of Silver. Twinkle was first mentioned in The Halfling's Gem. According to 2nd edition Dungeons & Dragons rules, it is a defender +5 while, again in 3.0 edition it is a slightly tweaked +2 defending scimitar.
Forged by elves, Twinkle has a star-cut sapphire on its pommel and it glows blue when danger is near.
"It was forged in the magic of the powers that all the surface elves hold dear," said Malchor. "Of the stars and the moon and the mysteries of their souls. You deserve it, Drizzt Do'Urden, and it will serve you well." — The Halfling's Gem
Combat/Tactics
Drizzt fights in the two long-weapon style common among drow warriors. He was trained by his father, Zaknafein, the best weapons master in Menzoberranzan and then, officially at Melee-Magthere, the Menzoberranyr school for warriors, and later, again by Zaknafein (or Zak as he was sometimes known) who helped him to hone his skills further. It was Zaknafein who taught Drizzt the movements to transcend the basics of the drow martial art, to think creatively about any fight. His technique was more about training one's muscles to respond, quickly and in perfect harmony, to the calls of the mind, and more importantly, to the calls of the imagination. He taught that improvisation, not rote responses, was what separated a warrior from a weapons master. Drizzt then surpassed his father, becoming the best fighter in Menzoberranzan. His supposed equal Artemis Entreri had clashed with Drizzt on several occasions until Entreri came to believe the Drow dead and declared himself the superior (though if he ever discovers Drizzt is still alive it is possible but not certain that the contest may begin anew). Artemis has since acquired the blade Charon's Claw, thus making him a far more deadly opponent for Drizzt.
Drizzt never takes potions and the like with him on adventures, preferring to rely on his own skills, equipment and friends (generally Bruenor, Cattie-Brie, Wulfgar, Regis and Guenhwyvar) to help him out if he gets into too much trouble.
Often, if Drizzt enters combat with an opponent he has to fight but isn't confident he can easily defeat he calls upon his innate Drow abilities to conjure up a globe of magical darkness that effectively blinds both himself and his opponent. He then begins to go into a self-imposed trance where, through a mixture of sheer skill, concentration and luck he often gains the upper hand, parrying enemy blades and making attacks that find holes in his opponent's defences that they, not used to fighting blind cannot possibly see coming (the textual equivalent of the Blindfighting feat).
Wulfgar with Aegis-fang:
In the fictional world of the Forgotten Realms, Aegis-fang (derived from the mythical shield Aegis) is the weapon of Wulfgar, son of Beornegar of the Elk Tribe. It was forged for him by his adoptive father Bruenor Battlehammer while he was in servitude of the dwarf king. It is made from pure Mithril with a diamond coating magically adhered during the forging. Its head is engraved with magical inscriptions which are covered by the symbols of the Dwarven god "the keeper of secrets under the mountain" and the god of knowledge. It is a large and heavy perfectly balanced dwarven war hammer for Wulfgar. Any person not over 6'5" and with considerable strength has a hard time wielding it properly. It is attuned to its wielder and will magically return to their hand upon telepathic command.
Wulfgar has been trained extensivly with this weapon. He has used it in two battles against dragons, Icingdeath and Shimmergloom both with triumphant results.
Catti-Brie with Taulmaril and "The Cutter".
Taulmaril is an bow who never runs out of arrows (Each arrow makes an small explosion when it hits it's target, and "The Cutter" (Khazid'hea) is a sword that can easily cut through stone)
and Bruenor
In the Forgotten Realms setting, based on the Dungeons & Dragons RPG, Bruenor Battlehammer is the dwarven adoptive father of Catti-brie and Wulfgar, King of Mithral Hall, Friend of Drizzt and Regis, and crafter of Aegis-fang. Bruenor was run out of Mithral Hall when he was just a non-bearded boy. His family took up residence in Icewind Dale close to Ten-Towns.After the battle with Akar Kessel and the Crystal Shard or Cryshal-Tirith, Bruenor tricked Drizzt into helping in the search for Mithril Hall.
The Companions of the Hall thought Bruenor was dead when they saw him ride a shadow dragon to the death of the dragon and supposed death of Bruenor. The only thing that kept him alive was Icingdeath, that Drizzt had lost in a battle with Artemis Entreri.
Who wears an large axe.
First fight is Wolverine facing each one by one, in second he faces them all at one time.
Who wins?
This has been on my mind for a long time, and I hope that it isn't instantly removed for having characters that aren't in comics... 🙁
