We know there is a universe because our minds have arrive at that conclusion. If we go back to first cause then science tells us this universe came first. But since this is a philosophical discussion we conclude that without a mind...we know nothing.

From a scientific point of view we also assume that our Universe does not care whether or not our Mind acknowledges it and understand the utter insignificance of the mind.

Of course the universe doesn't care what we are or what we think. It's just a bunch of hydrogen and nitrogen and all that stuff combine. Whereas our minds have the following features:

Intellect
Consciousness
Thought
Perception
Emotion
Will and of course Imagination

I think Mind gets a better deal. At least for us humans.

Actually, I dig the mind. I am still not sure how we can actually compare the two though.
