As for the pre retcon beyonder thats debatable as they both have multiversal power and he's never faced Jean before only Rachel who it was made clear wielded a shard of Jeans phoenix essence. However when Beyonder got an insight into Jean and all she represented ("the sum and substance of all life"😉 he fell to his knees because he couldnt handle the experience.

If phoenix stayed down then she wouldntbe so damn strong, but she keeps gettin up after shes dead.
