Let's be clear on this. It's not even one phrase.

'Annuit Coeptis' is clearly seperate from the rest, and it means 'Providence favours what we do."

'Novus Ordo Seclorum' means "A New Era of the Ages" or "A new time of generartions." It refers to the new form of Government the Ameircans wanted to set up after the Revolution.

'Seclorum' means Ages, or generations- that kind of 'time passing' sense. It does not even vaguely mean 'secular'.

As ever, Deano is posting sources that are full of shit.

Tried and tested Ush! I had a huge conversation with Deano on Msn about his sources and as it turns out he hasn't researched
anything.

Anyway I'm glad your cleared up what the phrase meant. I as refering to GCG's post. It didn't seem lilkley that he was here to debate conspiricy theroies.

I do Latin....got a 2 2 in the Prelims last month actually!

I was never that good at it. But all you have to do is look up what the words mean anyway.

And also spot that the two phrases are nowhere near each other.

No, However there can often be some dispute over what the words mean. I'll get My old Latin teacher to translate it. He's a linguist speaks most major languages in the world. Japanesse, Spanish,French,German Russian etc.

Hoowever not to bash Deano but he doesn't explore sources he just reads one type and thats gospel to him!

I will also look up the meaning, there may be discrepences.

See, that's just you saying it. It is a lie. Deano is lying at this point everyone- he is simply saying something that is not so.

1. That is NOT a complete sentence. Annuit Copetis is a sentence of its own, in a totally different place on the bill.

2. The word 'Secular' does not appear in the Latin at any point.

3. Nor does the word 'conquest'.

You are just plain wrong. Wrong wrong wrong.

Interpretation is one thing, Deano. Simply making up a completely different meaning is another. There is no secular. There is no conquest.
