chauncey, lebron, dirk, nash, kobe, and elton brand should not be the only ones in the mvp race.

everyone honestly tell me, where do you think the nets would be without vince carter?? exactly where they were last season before he arrived, not even close to a playoff spot. he definitely should be getting much more recognition and should be an mvp candidate. yeah he is not leading the league in scoring, assists, or rebounds....but he averages a solid 24.6ppg, and is a great contributor on the court and gets his teammates A LOT of open looks on which they usually do not convert..therefore being the reason he does not get a lot of assists, unlike kobe who has horrible shot selection at times and does not get his teammates nearly as much open looks as vince, if any in the first place. even as a scorer vince has scored 40 or more points 5 times this season including a career tying 51 point performance against miami.'

do not tell me that the nets r winning because of the big three....all they need is vince carter and jason kidd ( nothing against rj) , because if the nets won 14 of their last 20 games last season to make the playoffs then they can sure as hell do it without him this season. richard jefferson is in the mix to take some of the pressure off of vince, but vince has shown that he can explode for 30-40 points every game without him in the lineup. vince may have set his new career high last season against the spurs if he did not get ejected for running after bruce bowen who intentionaly stepped under his jumper to try to injur him...again. vince had 42 points at the start of the fourth quarter in that game, so..you know what i mean. vince can get it done without richard jefferson, and plays better with j-kidd, but can play well with a decent point guard as well. jason kidd though..can not be effective without vince carter much more than with richard jefferson.

Oh, and I apologize in advance if thats a top 10 'favorite' list.

It's both. Many of those are my favorite, especially Diaw.

But the reason I put Diaw on there is because I believe he has the potential to be one of the top 10. Right now, he is not one of the top ten, but if he keeps on imroving like he is now, he will be.

We never said that the Nets would be good without Carter.

If Vince Carter should be an MVP canidate, than so should Elton Brand. Elton averages 24.8 ppg, and 10 rebounds. And he ranks 5th in blocks per game (2.55).

He has also had a 38 points and 20 rebounds game. And over 30 points 19 times.

I already told you my stance on Vince as an MVP candidate. I said he is potentially deserving of some votes, but none as #1.

Not really. When you hear people talking about MVP canidates, whether it be here, or on ESPN, or where ever, do you hear Eltong Brand? No. You hear, Lebron, Nash, Dirk, Kobe, Wade, Billups, but no Elton. Sometimes I've even heard Carter, but I;ve have never heard Elton Brand since the begining of the season.

Brand is in no way a front runner, but he has been mentioned as MVP more often than Carter has. Mostly because of the beginning of the season. However, he is not a candidate in the sense of actually winning, but he should get some votes.

Well I don't watch games unless its the Sixers or Heat playing, so I wasn't watching then.

And my definition of canidate is probably different than all yours. I consider a canidate a person who actuall has a chance of winning it, which would be LeBron, Kobe, Nash, Dirk, and whoever else.

LOL. i....dont think the lakers will be able to knock off the spurs, so i would say kobe definitely does not have a chance of winning it. the other three have a chance, and oh yeah so does vince.

How can you even say he doesn't have a chance of winning it? Tons of people will vote for him. And MVP isn't voted upon who's team can beat who's.

mvp for me should go the player whos helped his team the most. whos been consistant, whos helped win games in the crunch etc, turned their team around.... kobe is more needed by the lakers than carter is for the nets to win games. simple as

i was not talking about mvp...i was talking about the lakers knocking off the spurs...and the lakers possibilities of going far in the post season.

Ok... but your discussion with Dan was about MVP and it appears that you were saying Kobe had no chance of winning MVP BECAUSE they have no chance of beating the Spurs. I guess you need to learn to phrase your statements better.
