If PB really IS out, then it's back to the list with Clive Owen, Dougray Scott and a few others (my vote is on Owen). Might be Ewan Macgregor; some of these guys will play it coy about becoming Bond. That way, if they actually don't get to be Bond they can say, "Well, I really wasn't interested anyway..."

Goran Visnjic (my personal fave and Campbell's one too)
Also: you're right about the dearth of Bond news verssot and I notice you have three new (at least new to me) Bond candidates. Doesn't that in and of itself make you wonder? Are these guys being sent up as trial balloons to see what kind of reaction they get? All those names out there and no front runner? And new names added all the time? What gives? Of course. I may be reading too much into all of this hype re the new Bond....
well, rest assure northstar: they're not new at all. I do believe the last name that got added was Goran's back in early may.

Well, there's been others: Dougray Scott, Hugh Grant, Ioann Gruffud(I know I'm misspelling the name) and Julian McMahon (the Nip and Tuck guy). The question is, 'who is this mysterious 4th "unconfirmed" candidate? Keeping the door open I imagine...
I can not disagree that three of them could be placed under big rumors yes. And it could well be that one of them is the fourth one; still... at any point in a "big" movie you get rumors of a lot of actors wanting the role or being asked. So three isn't that much at all.
I don't count Grant as one... come on, who wants him as bond? he puts on a toxedo and you think you've ended up in Four Weddings and a Funeral... or when you see him at a desk you think you are seeing Love Actually!

Or how about 'Mickey Blue Eyes'? hehe. Right. I can't see him as Bond either. Jason Stratham (the Transporter1 and 2 guy)? Loved him in those movies but he is no imho Bond. Dougray Scott--if he's available--or Julian Mcmahon would be my choices...
