While Pierce Brosnan was quoted by Entertainment Weekly that he was done with the James Bond franchise, the actor is now saying that's no entirely true. The magazine stated that Brosnan said, "I've said all I've got to say on the world of James Bond. Bond is another lifetime, behind me."
Speaking to Los Angeles Confidential Magazine, he addressed the above quote. "There was no announcement. I think the reporter heard it wrong. I think what I said was, 'I've had my fill of talking about Bond." Asked again if the statement wasn't meant as a goodbye wave, he added, "It was not an official announcement." It seems there's still a good chance Brosnan will be back for the 21st film.
Meanwhile, UK's The Sunday Mirror has published a rumor saying that Dougray Scott has landed the role. The tabloid said, "Bosses at Eon Productions chose Dougray after deciding they wanted a return to a brooding Bond in the mould of original star Sir Sean Connery."
The Mirror goes on to include the usual "anonymous" quotes about the casting, which leads us further to think there's no truth to their report at all.
The latest rumours from the inner circle claim that Brosnan is back in talks with Eon Productions to come back for a fifth outing as 007. Brosnan has said on numerous occasions that he wanted a fifth and final film. His original contract for "three films and an option for a fourth" expired with 2002's "Die Another Day".
