Yes a body builder might do that for the week of a competition, he will return to th 8 to 12 range immediatly after.

That's because most are big and more out of shape off season and they cut weight/fat in season. I work out every single day. I'm not a "bodybuilder", I'm a bodysculpter, my goal is to keep my bodyfat low, not to increase my mass. I know the regime of bodybuilders because I've entered some competitions myself.
