Well, high school's different. It has a lot to do with applying yourself. I know that I was pretty bright in high school (I'm on the dean's list now), but I just didn't care (I wish I would have, now that I think about it). I was just having fun, not really putting a whole lot of effort into my school work.
In college, there's a lot more incentive to do well (since you're paying for it), but there's room to mess up to. But I guess my point is that a lot of guys as a whole are more focused on other things during high school (i.e. girls, sports, partying, etc.).
Remember, females mature at an earlier age than males do, which definitely plays a major role there.
