Why do you need Jesus Christ to be saved and go to Heaven?
For by one man’s disobedience many were MADE SINNERS. Because of Adam’s disobedience (he disobeyed God concerning eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil) every human being is made (or born) a sinner. Romans 5:19; Genesis 2:16-17, 3:6; Romans 5:12, 14-15, 19
Through Adam, sin (the law of sin and death) entered the world, and into human nature. Adam passed his sinful nature on to his children, who passed it on to their children, who in turn passed it on to their children, all the way down to people today. The Bible states that the wages (or consequence) of sin is death. The wages of sin is death because sin separates us from the glorious life and presence of God. As a result, all people are born sinful and spiritually dead (or separated from the life and presence of God). We inherited Adam’s consequence for sin which is death (spiritual and physical death). Romans 8:2, 5:12, 19; 1 Corinthians 15:21-22; Ephesians 2:1, 5, 4:18; Romans 6:23; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2; 1 Peter 3:18; Ephesians 2:1, 5, 4:18;
All are sinners by nature (because we inherited Adam’s sinful nature) and by choice (all of us have chosen to sin at some point in our life) and as a result we fall short of the glory (the glorious life and presence) of God. Sin separates us from the glorious life and presence of God. Because of our sins no person is considered RIGHTEOUS according to God. God is holy and He cannot allow sin in His presence. Romans 5:12, 19; 1 John 1:8; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2; 1 Peter 3:18; Ephesians 2:1, 5, 4:18; Romans 3:10, 12; Psalm 99:9; Habakkuk 1:13;
If a person (physically) dies in their sins, without first having their sins forgiven, remitted, or washed by the blood of Jesus, they will be separated from the glorious life and presence of God temporarily in a place called Hades (Hell). Then when they are judged by God according to their (sinful) works they will be cast into THE LAKE OF FIRE permanently. John 8:21, 24; Matthew 10:28, 23:33, 25:31-33, 41, 46; Mark 9:43-48; Luke 12:5; Revelation 20:11-15
Jesus came to Earth to shed His blood (or die) so that our sins could be remitted, washed away, or forgiven. God accepted the holy, righteous, sinless blood of Jesus as payment for the wages of sin, which is death. Jesus’ death paid the wages of OUR SINS. Now all who call upon Jesus to save them from their sins can be forgiven for all their sins. We can have our sins remitted, washed away, and forgiven by God. The word remission or remit means to release from the guilt or penalty of. Jesus death PAID THE RANSOM FOR US FROM THE WAGES OF SIN. A ransom is something paid or demanded for the release of someone or something from captivity. Jesus redeemed us by His shed blood (or death). The word redeem means to buy back, repurchase, to get or win back, to free from captivity by payment of a ransom, to release from blame or debt, clear, to free from the consequences of sin, to atone for, or expiate. Jesus is the propitiation for our sins. The word propitiate means to gain or regain the favor or goodwill of, to appease. Through Jesus we are able to get back into the good graces of God. We are saved from God’s wrath through Jesus Christ. Isaiah 53:1-12; Romans 5:10; Hebrews 9:26, 28; 10:4-7, 10, 12, 14; Matthew 26:28; 1 John 1:7; 1 Peter 1:18-19; Ephesians 1:7; Colossians 1:14 Hebrews 9:12, 14, 10:19-20; Romans 10:13; Matthew 20:28; 1 Timothy 2:6; Romans 3:25; 1 John 2:2, 4:10; Romans 5:9; 1 Thessalonians 1:10, 4:13-18, 5:9; Revelation 6:14-17, 10:6, 11:18, 8:1, 15:1, 6-7, 16:1;
Jesus Christ was the only Person qualified to die for the sins of the world because He was not a sinner and He did not sin. Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. John 8:46; 14:30; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Peter 2:22; 1 John 3:5; Matthew 1:21; Luke 2:11, 4:18; John 4:42; Acts 4:12, 5:31, 13:23; Ephesians 5:23; Philippians 3:20; 2 Timothy 1:10; Titus 2:4, 13, 3:6; 2 Peter 1:1, 11; 1 John 4:14
God could not just forgive sin without the shedding of blood (or without someone dying to pay for sin). Hebrews 9:22
You see every single person had to pay for their own sin. The wages of sin is death (spiritual and physical death). We do not have the power or ability to escape death.
There is no way that salvation can ever be based on our good deeds, baptism, going to church, reading the Bible, keeping the Ten Commandments, living by the golden rule, being nice to people or any other good works. The Bible clearly states that without the SHEDDING OF BLOOD (OR DEATH) THERE IS NO REMISSION. The word remission or remit means to release from the guilt or penalty of. ONLY THROUGH JESUS CHRIST DEATH ON OUR BEHALF AS PAYMENT FOR OUR SINS are we granted forgiveness or pardon from God, of our sins (letting them go as if they had never been committed), remission of the penalty. Ephesians 2:8-9; Philippians 3:9; Titus 3:5-7; Romans 5:16-18; Romans 6:23; John 10:9, 14:6; 1 Peter 1:18-19; Romans 3:23-24; Hebrews 9:22; Isaiah 53:1-12; Romans 5:10; Hebrews 9:26, 28; 10:4-7, 10, 12, 14; Matthew 26:28; 1 John 1:7; 1 Peter 1:18-19; Ephesians 1:7; Colossians 1:14 Hebrews 9:12, 14, 10:19-20; Matthew 20:28; 1 Timothy 2:6; Romans 3:25; 1 John 2:2, 4:10; Romans 5:9; 1 Thessalonians 1:10, 4:13-18, 5:9; Revelation 6:14-17, 10:6, 11:18, 8:1, 15:1, 6-7, 16:1;
Although we who have asked Jesus Christ to save us from our sins are saved, born again, righteous, redeemed, and so forth, our physical body IS NOT REDEEMED FROM THE LAW OF SIN AND DEATH. That’s why we still die physically, and that’s why we still sin even though we are saved.
John 14:1-3, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God [the Father], believe also in Me [Jesus Christ]. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
John 14:6, “Jesus said to him, ‘I [ Jesus Christ] am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father [God] except through Me [Jesus Christ].’”
Matthew 16:26, “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will man give in exchange for his soul?
Romans 10:13, “‘For ‘whoever calls on the name of the Lord [Jesus Christ] shall be saved.’”
