ex. My favorite color is red.

So lets take a look

That guy's opinion is stupid. ---> This is an opinion

So therefore an opinion can be stupid, the same way it can be great, witty,brillant.

Now if I had said

Red's the best color | because its the brightest

opinion | opinion backed up by fallacious statement

Same thing applies if a person replies with

You're opinion is stupid | because red is not the brightest color

opinion | opinion backed by proof

An opinion can also be something where the proof is not known...so an opinion can actuallsy befact but is still an opinion...

Well, ok lets take for instance

God exists.

Now, I'm guessing or atleast hoping, Bardock42, you would classify that as opinion. But there are obviously some people who feel differently.

Anytime someone analyzes anythiing its no longer objective but subjective.........people aren't objective they all have opinions and want to prove they are correct.

This is true....but some people don't even try to do it objectively.....I try not to get my emotions mixed up with my observations...now that doesn't always work...but I believe it works better than what most others on this board do.

It is fine to say that someone's opinion sucks if they post it on an open forum for people to discuss and critique.

Would I feel good if someone called my opinion stupid? Well, before I make an opinion, I try to educate myself on the subject and other subjects that may be relevant to it. I then try to form an opinion based on this knowledge, personal experiences and whatever else I can used to make a coherent opinion that is well thought out and defensible as well as meaningful. So calling my opinion stupid would be incorrect, you may say you think it sucks (at which point you'd have to tell me why) but I don't think you could call it stupid.

I think many people here have shown you that an opinion CAN be stupid. An opinion made by an uneducated person without relevant information processed, sufficient facts and information gathered and poorly communicated can be considered stupid whether that person believes it to be true or not.
