Keep in mind, much of the fuss was probably over the explitive rather then the actual bashing of Bush. IMO, she was stupid for wearing that shirt in the first place, knowing that people would be offended by a swear word. And she's even more stupid for refusing to simply turn the shirt inside out.
Private orginizations always have the right to to refuse service to anyone who may offend or upset other passengers. A swear word definately qualifies as a valid reason to kick someone off of the plane if they refuse to cover it up in a decent manner.
