Which is a better leader and democrocy.

A different kind of Vs..

Okay, this is a bit different. It's not a typical Duel. If padme had been a surpreme chancellor, which would be better? Padme Amidala-Skywalker and her Old Republic vs. Leia Organa Solo and her New Republic? Which would be the more effective leader?

Padme. she always had more authority

Leia she stood up after a time of war, reuniting a fallen Galaxy. And she was a hero of a civil war. By all means she should be damn popular at the start where as Padmé would have to proof herself, it would also be much easier to discredit Padmé then Leia. Going against a war hero is not always a smart move.

Where as Padmé would have to rely heavily on the support of the Jedi, but that could have dropped heavily after the end of the war. Especially if they took over the Senate like they planned.

Leia. All we see of Padme is propping forward an overblown, incubent senate to pursue her own ends.

Horrendously true.

Like she had over Anakin? 😆

Leia is hardcore. She will even strangle a giant slug naked if she has to.
Padme is a little girl and hands authority to a Gungan, how dumb can you be?

that is a VERY good point

see if she never did that Palpatine might not have had control over the clones.

Yet, she probaly would have did it herself anyway

What? Giving the power to Jar Jar was actually a smart thing to do, he was an idiot and only talked to people Padmé trusted, he would also never do anything she wouldn't want him to do.

Palpatine's manipulation could not have been forseen by her, but chosing anybody with more of a brain could have made things even worse because people like that could have actually made a bigger impact. Padmé herself would likely have been persuaded by Palpatine as well. Jar Jar was the only real choice she had if you ask me.

The only good choice yes, she still could've gone with like Organa or someone though.

But Jar Jar wouldn't do anything Padme wouldn't do? Don't think so.

How about the whole, "Mesa propose, that the Senate, grant emergency powers, to da Supreme Chancellor!"

Wasn't Padme rigidly against the creation of a Republic Military?

How could she have given her powers to the Senator of another planet, that would be a conflict of interests for him...

And yeah that thing, but like I said there is a chance Padme would have been convinced by Palpatine, and she assumed that because Jar Jar would only be around people she trusted he would not be convinced to do anything she didn't want him to do.

We can only assume about what never happened.

I know, still I think she made a good choice with Jar Jar...

Except for his dumbass decision that totalled the Jedi order, while establishing the Sith, destroyed a millenia old gov't and effectively caused the deaths of what must have been trilions if not quadrillions of sentients and the destruction of a fair few planets, I'd say yeah, great choice.

So who else likes poptarts?

Sreiously though when not looking back what choice would you have made? Who would you have put in that position?

They should've have a Jedi or two in the senate. Even if they couldn't sense something in Palpy, they'd've suspected something, since no normal human can hide his emotions from the Force. He'd've consulted the Jedi Council, and everything would be back to normal.

Actually normal humans can hide their emotions from Jedi several have.

But thats not really the point, the Jedi were closer to Palpatine then most people in the senate, I doubt one or two Jedi in the senate could have changed anything.

Really? I never heard of normal people hiding their emotions or deception from jedi.

Atton did it, of course he was force sensitive but he talked about other people doing it as well.

Absolutely noone, if I had no choice, I still would not pick that stupid gungan.
