No I can't, if you're not allowed senators from other planets to carry your vote.
But no matter what, even if I had to forfeit my vote, I would never, ever give it over to that gungan. Padme thought she made the right decision, she thought she could count on Jar Jar to vote against a military creation...she was wrong. No matter what his intention's were, they turned out for the worst, and he couldn't even see through that ploy Palpatine and Blue Man put on.

Oh come on even Yoda couldn't see through that.
I wouldn't trust the universe to anybody actually, but a brainless primitive creature like Jar Jar? Like hell I WILL!! I'm not saying everybody else would have seen through Palpatines tricks, I'm saying that you shouldn't pass over the universe to some IQ-less amphibian, that's just stupid. Leia wins this one. Perioso.

You don't get it do you? Everybody with half a brain would have their own goals and idea's. Padmé knew Jar Jar was a fool, but also a loyal fool that would not betray her or her friends. And that would only be around her friends because he would be taught not to trust other people.
Jar Jar is the best choice because he is an idiot, of course it later on turned out that one of her friends turned Jar Jar, but she could not have expected that. And you can hardly blame Jar Jar for not seieng through Palpatine's speech. When Anakin did not do so later on when it was far more clear and Padmé herself couldn't see the bigger picture in Palpatine his idea either.
IEH! JAR JAR FANBOY! WILL NOT ADMIT YOU CAN TRUST PEOPLE WITH AT LEAST HALF A WIT TOO! IEEEHH!!
Yeah, pretty smart to put a moron in control, Jar Jar is the most easy to manipulate there is. Anybody can push his own political goals on someone like Jar Jar and make it seem necessary to Jar Jar, because as you probably didn't know, Jar Jar is dumb..
Jar Jar is basically a free ticket to power for all politicians. Give it up, Leia is smarter.
(for any questions remaining; picture below will explain everything)

I never claimed otherwise, read my first post in this thread... It explains everything.
But I am not going to misjudge Padmé because of Jar Jar, Padmé could not have known that her friends would betray her goals. Well she could have, but thats her fault not Jar Jar's she should have realised that. But didn't. Therefor with the information she had Jar Jar was the best choice.

Doesn't convince me.. Chosing Jar Jar is as good as leaving a ticket to power on her seat, then leaving for certain death..
I think it was just a simple excuse of GL to finally grant Sidious his total control. It is and will be a bad plot, it should've and could've been better.
Tell me if not him then who? Who could be trusted to do things like this, who in heavens name could have such a possition of power in that time? Everybody with a brain would abuse it for their own goals. Jar Jar could not do such things, he wasn't capable of it. He needed to be guided. Padmé thought only people she trusted could guide him, she was right. To bad she trusted Palpatine though.
She should've handed it over to Sidious immediately.. 😛 Nah.. Anyway, I don't care who, it's a bad scene/plot anyway to my opinion. As long as it's not some clumsy pet animal who drops bombs on his own troops..
She probably couldn't have chosen anyone outside of the political party like jedi for example, still there should be some friends who wouldn't betray her.. I don't think everybody who owns a brain would betray her by default, but anyway I don't want to begin a discussion or something about that..
Well look at what she had there her handmaidens, but they could be killed and probably would be if they said they were her. Without the Jedi to guard her Jango would surely take out the imposter.
Then she had the captain of the guards, who is far more likely to support Palpatine then her, because well Palpatine is for capturing the criminals that took his planet. He would surely vote for the creation of an army, he saw what no army did to the republic did to Naboo. A soldier should know the advantage of having an army.
She could use one of her advisors, but thats exactly what they are advisors on a certain thing. Get an advisor there, and you can know what direction its going into. Most people have more then one advisor and get several pieces of advice for every given situation just to learn more about the situation. Padmé would logically have this too.
So what then? A person who had never been in the senate and was not known. Perhaps but you have to imagine that the Gungans for the first time have good relations with Naboo. And they consider Jar Jar as a hero for some reason. So doing that would not please the Gungans not to mention that experience is an important thing for everybody and a total noob can easily be persuaded too. Just by saying he has no idea what he or she is talking about.
And don't forget that Jar Jar knows Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, he is known by the Jedi something that could be very important in any important place, especially one like that. Jar Jar although not a smart choice is the best choice she had. She should have thought of things sooner but didn't, her own damn fault. Still at this exact moment in time with the information she had it was the best choice she could make.
AAAH!! You wrote a whole fanfic story! Kan het niet kort maar krachtig? Sorry hoor maar uh.. Je overtuigd me toch niet dat Jar Jar de beste keus is.. Of toch? K'denk het niet.. Ik zal wel gewoon gelijk hebben ofzo.. Ook een mogelijkheid..
Isn't Bail Organa in the politics? He can be trusted, there must be more or even friends who share her political vision and etc etc etc, anyway I don't want to go into an endless debate about this now. Or you would really come with a reason why nobody can be trusted except a man with a stone in his head, then I will be convinced.

Other motives.
Bail Organa also happens to be the Senator of Alderaan he has different motives and goals then Padmé does.. Look I already wrote why the one's close to her are bad choices. The others simply can not be chosen becuase of a conflict of interest.
Come on.. It's not like Bail Organa will go do something horrible, do you think Padme is ultra paranoid or something (nothing but her will or something)? You can actually trust some people even if they have their own main priorities. Maybe you see everybody as opportunistic or something? Is that it?
Anyway Jar Jar is just a dangerous choice, he is weak minded.

Yes actually...
And does that matter? There could very well be some rules against that. For all we know, it wouldn't surprise me in the least. It would prevent certain people from getting to powerful.
And I already explained that Jar Jar would only be around people Padmé trusted. It was dangerous but still one better then giving them the power directly.
If Bail for example would have been granted some power, I don't think he would even think of abusing her trust, it would send out a totally wrong signal to everybody in the whole galaxy, you can't just get away with everything. Why would he suddenly do something wich Padme doesn't want.. ulgh.. I hate this little discussion you lured me in.
Still, you don't really convince me with it.. I still think Jar Jar is a loose canon. He is more dangerous with any power than some people as he is so naive, there must be better choices.

There are thousands if not millions of senators. You are overestimating the impact one lie would make. Especially in AOTC when Bail doesn't seem to be as known as later on. And like I said laws against given another senator all power would not be strange if you ask me. And Bail sitll has his own agenda, although it may largly comply with that of Padmé it may not do so entirely. Meaning he would probably abuse Padmé her vote in some matters that would be adressed in the senate.
You are thinking more paranoid about trust by the second, his career would be over if the media exposed the former piece loving senators abuse of trust.
And if there are so many, she should be able to find someone who shares her political view or someone she knows.
It makes less and less sense to trust Jar Jar! There must be someone who isn't as dangerous a risk as Jar Jar.
But why are we going on about this anyway? let's just keep it at personal opinion instead of waisting our time! Great idea, no?!
