forcing religion is wrong. I dont believe anyone should follow a religion. Follow after Christ Jesus not after some religion. Jesus isnt a religion. He is Lord.
Jesus never called himself god, and you are following a denomination.
If you believe that it is wrong to discriminate against homosexuals, is it selfish to teach your children that as well? Of course not! If the parents have some sort of religious belief, then they have every right to teach their child according to this. If the child grows up and decides not to believe then its their choice!

I personally think it is wrong and selfish for a parent to force religion on a child or children. A child should be allowed to make their own choice wether or not they want to be a god fearing christian or an atheist or whatever. Tell me what you think of all this.
It is a parents job to train up their child in the way that they think is right. I personally hate when parents dont want to take their children to church when the kids dont want to. I think as long as the child is living in his parents house that its least he can do. But you cant really force anything on anybody. All you can do is pray that they feel the same way about the the religion that you do.

True, but a child should be introduced to one religion but not alienated from others. That way, if he/she believes that the introduced religion is not for them, then they are free to choose from the one that bests fits them. Sadly not many people follow this principle.
AOR is right...Parents have a legal and moral(God given if you care to put it that way)duty to impress upon their children their beliefs as long as they themselves believe and try not to be to hypocritical about it. Otherwise children have nothing to believe in except what they learn out on the streets or in our newly designed school systems....It is not someone elses job to introduce personal beliefs to a child....if you hold out on your child they will not trust you as they will not know what to believe, they may end up trusting and believing what a stranger says versus what you believe and should have taught them....sounds strange and dragged out statement but rings truth
I believe it to be wrong to raise a child in the parents religion. It's selfish. The parents are raising the child to be a carbon copy of them, with all their thoughts and feelings. Kids need to grow up and be able to make up their own mind on what they feel is right and wrong. They need to be their own person, not the person their parents might want them to be.
It's not about that, forcing religion on your children is like telling them magic exists. You're telling them lies, and the fact that they believe it makes them at a disadvantage when it comes to learning about the truth.

The Parent-Child relationship has always been about instruction. Therefore it would be logical that religious beliefs would also be passed on.
Problems arise when those beliefs included closemindedness (this is called brainwashing children). Children should be taught to be analytical and question and parents should not punish thier children for changing their faith later in life.
teach them what is right. we all have different opinions on what is right. like my opinion -jesus christ is god and u need to believe in him, is different than what debbiejo would say. i say intro into what the parents believe, and after that it is really up to the kid, i mean one day he will make his own decision.
