I believe practically all his powers are psionic in nature. There is just no other reasonable explanation. Simply, when he believes he can do something, he just does it. That's what I was thinking. Sincs Superman's powers are psychic in nature, but feuled by Sunlight, couldn't he mentally divert his solar energy into his strength, or his speed, radically increasing it?

It would make sense. In some ways, I believe Superman is slowly learning his powers and what he is capable of. The return of Precrisis Supes as well as Batman telling current Supes to stop acting so "human" would confirm a "free your mind" type deal...Unfortunately, we have about another 6 months of waiting to find out.

Supes has projected Cosmic flame(not heat vision) when Sundipped as well, and strangely enough, seemed to have mental control of his flaming cape. 😕
