I don't own the comic yet, I'm waiting for the trade/ G.S. to send it to me. I've seen it though, and like the rest of Supreme power it is both dramatical and BADASS.

To cut a long story short Hyperion makes an ultimatum to the US Government. 'Leave me alone, or face consequences' To emphasise his point he rams himself 'pretty hard' into the North Pole. The resulting energy released is the equivalent of a terraton of TNT (I think thats a thousand megaton Nuclear bombs, or 20 000 Hiroshima Bombs). A Tectonic plate movement of 10.5 is also recorded (The earthquake that hit south east Asia, last year was a 9). The crater an explosion created by the Impact can be seen from Space. 🙂

a terra ton is bigger - 1 million megatons. yup that would rank a 9 (on your strength scale not richter)

i doff my hat in respect to the mighty hyperion

Some cool work being done on the Strength scale.

By the way yahman I love your lists but you might want to seperate out or create a "healing" section. As someone may not have more than regular durability elsewise but might heal extremly well. . .

...may I offer the following:

Regeneration: speed and extent of healing/damage recovery.
1- Normal: as a point of reference, it takes about 8 weeks to heal a broken arm.
2- Rapid (10 x faster than normal): arm heals in about 5-6 days.
3- Very Rapid (100 x faster than normal): arm heals in about 13-14 hours; small cuts or bruises gone in under an hour.
4- Major (1000 x faster): arm heals in about 80 minutes; also complete regeneration of small body parts, like an eye or a finger.
5- Extreme (10,000 x faster): arm heals in about 8 minutes.
6- Profound (100,000 x): arm heals in under 50 seconds; also complete regeneration of entire limb or nonvital organ, though this would take longer.
7- Intense (1,000,000 x): arm heals in under 5 seconds; complete regeneration of heart.
8- Near Immediate (10,000,000 x): arm heals in under half a second. Further, almost half a body can regenerate (though his would take much, much longer) as long as enough brain cortex is intact to allow some egoic awareness.
9- Immediate (100,000,000 x): arm heals in tiny fraction of a second. Also, nearly entire body could be destroyed but still regenerate (again, given sufficient time, energy and energy-to-matter conversion) as long as a microscopic bit of brain tissue remains.
10- Total (more than a billion times faster than normal): virtually instantaneous, as well as complete, eventual recovery from molecular disintegration. Implies entity can exist momentarily as energy or quantum wave patterns capable of re-empowering a corporeal matrix.

More two-cents worth...

Durability: resistance to harm or damage by any conceivable physical means.
1- Normal: what an average, healthy person can tolerate.
2- Toughened: a person trained to take punishment which would hurt Normal-level individuals. Examples would be a boxer or a person being trained for special forces.
3- Peak: someone who can tolerate punishment which would cripple or kill Normals. Examples would be a martial-arts master able to take a punch to the throat or groin without flinching, or for that matter, one who could kick through a brick wall without breaking bones.
4- Superhuman: capable of resisting sharp-tipped weapons, hand-carried firearms and up to 100 lbs of TNT. There is trans-peak resistence to chemical and biological agents; this person could also easily survive nude in stormy arctic conditions or walk through a burning building unscathed.
5- Artillery-resistant: capable of tolerating heavy battlefield and tactical weapons, up to several tons worth of TNT. Can survive the frigidity of space, also well over 100,000oF.
6- Nuke-resistant: can withstand the ground-zero shockwaves of strategic nuclear detonations, up to several megatons, as well as the accompanying heat and radiation. Heat-tolerance is in the tens of millions of degrees.
7- Nova-resistant: can withstand weapons powerful enough to wreck the mass of a planet.
8- Supernova-resistant: can withstand energy enough to destroy a star system.
9- Galactic: can withstand attacks capable of dismantling galaxies.
10- Cosmic: essentially indestructible; can't be harmed by anything short of a Big Crunch, and even this is in doubt.

There aren't many people with more than Level 7 durability. I dont think anyone short of the L.T. is above 9. 🙂

Rgeneration is good though

Good point, though I was also thinking about many of the scifi stories I have read over the years. But what about The Presence or TOAA? pizza

Okay, so today I have too much time on my hands. lamo
Some tweaking (I felt the levels were more evenly ranged this way)...

Agility: the ability to track and dodge multiple attacks from multiple directions (involves precise body control: reflexes, balance and coordination). This is not "anticipatory" dodging, for example reading body cues and knowing a trigger is about to be pulled. The attacks are already incoming, you perceive them and simply get out of the way. If aerial combat is involved, may be called Maneuverability.
1- Normal: typical of an average, healthy person who is untrained.
2- Athletic: typical of a person with at least a few years of training. This person could be a semipro athlete or first-degree blackbelt with regard to awareness and body control.
3- Peak: human potential fully realized, championship level. This person could, for example, catch arrows in midflight, or pluck flies out of midair without squishing them. He/she could also dodge (or block) blows from multiple attackers.
4- Superhuman: first of the trans-peak levels; unachievable by a person without powers or significant augmentation, no matter how well trained. Can dodge a handgun bullet from just beyond point-blank range. At this level, powers/augmentation would have to include amping speed of nerve signals and information processing.
5- Hypersonic: can track/dodge the fastest bullets or shells, even at point-blank range. At this level, hearing is ineffective as a tracking sense since the attacks are approaching faster than the sound waves they are generating. Upper limit of this level is about Mach 30 (33 feet/millisecond).
6- Cometary: Mach 30 to Mach 1000 (about 0.1% lightspeed). This individual could duck, twist and spin untouched through the densest meteor shower.
7- Lightning: can track/dodge attacks approaching up to 3% lightspeed.
8- Periluminal: can track/dodge attacks approaching lightspeed. Being literally "faster than Lightning," this person could track and dodge a lightning bolt.
9- Superluminal: can track/dodge lightspeed and faster-than-light attacks, for example, laser beams or FTL missiles. At this level, vision is ineffective as a tracking sense since the attacks are approaching faster than the light from them can reach the eye. Tracking awareness requires superluminal energies.
10- Quantum: for all intents and purposes, instantaneous perception-reaction. Nothing can make contact with the target if the target doesn't want to be touched.

I've been tweeking the levels a bit (The others are the same as they once where !)

Strength Levels :

Level 6 (Monstrerous Strength) - Even in the fictional universes these characters are still perceived as immensely strong, many are likely to be on par with heavy lifting devices. (The respective weights involved are therefore still within the boundaries of realism.) Although some may be able to perform feats that in a conventional universe are physically impossible.

(Somewhere around 100 tons)

Level 7 ( Demi God Strength) - ( Demi God Strength): (Unknown limits) These characters have inconsistently shown strength FAR in excess of the standard Monstrerous level. Although their limits are unknown, illustration of physical exertion suggests we close to their pinnacle. Many have demonstrated feats that should be physically impossible. -

(Can conceivably move/lift most things man made.)

Namor, Ultimate Colossus, Byrnes Supes, Mortal Herc,

Level 8 ( God Strength) - (Incalculable) Characters are conceivably able to perform any feat necessary - (i.e. some have demonstrated strength that can only be performed regularly by beings with Cosmic Might.) - Undefined ‘peak levels‘, characters have demonstrated they can greatly surpass the limits set on previous occasions. Immense fluctuations has make it difficult to define their accurate strength level .

(- Anything below Pre Crisis Supes Feats )

Classic Thor, Wonder Woman, Current Supes, Super Girl, Orion

Level 9 (Titan Strength) (Near limitless) : God level characters, with access to a near limitless energy source. This can conceivably be used amplify their strength FAR beyond the typical God like level. Beings at this level are sometimes listed as having ‘unlimited strength‘.-

Thanos, Destroyer, Sentry, Sundipped Supes, Doomsday, King Thor,

(Potentionally anything and everything )

Level 10 (Cosmic Might) - The being in question must have power on a truly incalculable scale. Although the limits of the beings strength have not been measured it is widely agreed (by writers and readers) that their strength is truly immeasurable. Note that such characters rarely exercise their physical strength, but if they chose to there would probably be no limit to what they could lift/move.

Galactus and crew !

Energy Blasts :

Level 7:God Energy: Easily capable of decimating an entire city, without any sign of energy deprivation or fatigue.

Silver Surfer Blast

Level 8:Titanic Energy. Beings that can they can generate the energies necessary of killing those with level 9 durability.- Capable of decimating entire celestial objects !

Omega Effect Darksied, Balck Bolts Scream

Level 9. Pseudo Cosmic Might . Inexperienced/Unproven beings, that wield energy from near limitless power sources. Beings that have yet to demonstrate full mastery of their immeasurable power. Others have restrictions and limitation as to when/where they can access this power.

Franklin Richards, Onslaught, King Thor

Level 10 True Cosmic Might. Characters that have demonstrated the mastery of their limitless energies. Energy intensity can go far beyond the standard level 8 attack. Some are well capable of killing those with Level 10 durability. Such beings are truly universal threats !

Galactus, Celestials

Enjoy !!!!!!!!!!!!!

🙂

What I like about your system is that it attempts to describe levels without mentioning specific tonnage...a task unfortunately made necessary by comic writers' unintended insistence on not being consistent with a character's strength level. Your system encourages an intuitive appreciation of what a character can or should be able to do.

Part of me says, however, "Damn those writers, let's assess each character as we see fit!" In which case perhaps a little more specificity might be kinda nice. For example, you do say "Somewhere around 100 tons" for Level 6; why not suggest ballpark figures for the other levels (or at least some of them). Hey, you know me, I like my numbers, if for no reason other than it lends that "dash" of realism. Just a suggestion. 🙂
