Naturally, I'm against all these lazy-ass "online rental" deals. I never knew the day would come where we as Americans think of it as a chore to drive to a video store down the street, as opposed to waiting to get some beat-up old disc that may or may not play, subject yourself to waiting lists for new releases, etc.
Hey, whatever floats your boat. Just an FYI, at Hollywood Video, for $9.99, you can rent as many movies as you want a month. 3 at a time, including select new releases.
I hated mail renting too. I would rather have to pick them up that way I can rent what I want to see when I want to see it. Some nights you are in the mood for a comedy but by mail, you may get the action movie you wanted a couple nights ago. However, one thing that is drawing me closer to using rent by mail is gas prices.
We dont have the rental pass thing in the video shops in the UK, so online is the only option for unlimited rentals,
I agree sometimes you dont always get the new releases when they are released but you do get quite a few, recently I got Sin City, Palindromes, Mean Creek and a few others in the week they were released, also online rental can offer a wider choice of film, not available in a video shop. And also you dont have to go all the way to the shop you can do it from the comfort of your own home. ALso I have been a member for about a year and never once received a faulty disc, and you can turn the discs around in 3 days

I like being able to get new movies the day their released though 😬
soon we will have something that automatically rent what you want a week before you think so when it arrives, you don't have to wait. lazy bastards, I love going to the store to get it(if it is close) I only hate the lines and sometimes they don't even have the movies...block buster never has the movies I want.

When you have rental stores here in the UK that don't do deals like in America or have a BIG collection, especially in the world cinema and classics, independent section, online renting does NOT suck or lazy. It's a gift.
I rent online for £14 a month, I can get 24-30 dvds a month with that, which if I rented at blockbusters in town would cost around £100 at the prices here to rent...
Humm.
I have managed to rent all the Ingmar Bergman films that are on dvd from the online rental, and so far I have only seen 2 of his films in the rental shop in town.
Online renting for me is fantastic. So far I am not having a problem with the rental company Blockbusters. I rent more or less world cinema/independent stuff so they normally always have them. But usually get the new releases in good time also.

Most people dont do it because there lazy 🙄.They do it because they think it's cool getting there movies sent to em 😐
I think the only thing I dont like about this is that I cant order the new releases before they comeout and get them the day they come out.

Then think of our petrol prices in the UK, compared to here American petrol prices are heaven!
Still doesn't mean that I'm not a poor college student. I need to save every penny but I have a hard time living without my movies. It takes about 2 gallons for my car to get to my Blockbuster. I don't feel like paying $6 just on gas every trip for a movie rental.
