Torchwood (Doctor Who fans, take a look...)

I had to look that episode title up because I could not remember it. After reading the plot, I can still hardly remember it! is it the one where the guy had all patterned lines all over his face?

Oh, came across this from one of the Torchwood writers for Series 3, quite interesting:

I can't believe people are actually sending in threats and so on, and I also read that people have said they have deleted all Barrowman's music off their Ipods because of what his CHARACTER did in Torchwood.

Yeah, I agree. They were already dying of the airborne virus (which I'm not sure how the 456 released either), opening the door would have released poison into the room but it also would have killed the 456 as they were met with Earth's atmosphere.

I think the whole deal with the child that was hooked up to the 456 was the creepiest moment in Torchwood for me. Normally when watching disturbing elements in a science fiction work, I think 'Thank god it isn't real,' but this time I was definitely unhappy watching that. And the revelation that the kids were being used in a drug trade... ugh. Damn the 456.

Didn't the 456 shut down everything in the building, I'm sure the door lock could only be opened via computer?

That would have been better off being shown. Still, it is only a niggle.

42 was the one on the spaceship and the living sun being and the fact that you have entirely forgotten it (not even caring enough about it to hate it, it was so generic) is what I call the Chibnal effect.

James Moran, pon the other hand, also wrote Sleeper, one of the better Torchwood episodes.

Though to give Chris his due, he wrote Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, which was not bad either. He just messed up that plotline at the end of the series.

Started watching this show recently

great premise and I really like all the characters

onto episode 5

So far I've been diggin' 'Who' and my friends tell me 'Torchwood' is as good if not--at times--better.

I've heard nothing but good regarding 'Children of Men.'

It's Children of Earth.

The reverse is actually true- Who is normally better than Torchwood. But CoE was very good and if Torchwood carries on in that style it will have shown great improvement.

Yeah, Children of Earth was great...

I'm still laughing at how a small number of fans are completely flipping out over it, btw.

D'oh! Right, 'Children of Men' was that Sci-fi "no babies" flick.

Yup I enjoyed Children of Earth too! Fans are just upset over how many deaths there were as am I but it was still awesome!

I see the new 10 part series has been confirmed, and now working with an American company too.

Yup,
Saw the story over on io9

I am...not 100% sure about this. Simply because CoE was awesome, and like I said back when it aired, I really am not sure where they can go from there. Let alone trying to live up to that.

However, reading the reactions on the Torchwood livejournal comm is an exercise in not slamming my face into my keyboard. So many people whining that "Torchwood is dead to me" and "RTD is the source of all evil" and "CoE was utter shit"...simply because of the freaking coffee boy getting killed off. Because for some reason the LJ portion of the fanbase is hugely in love with Ianto...and a lot of them seem to think that they're the majority of the fandom.

And I laugh. A lot. And occasionally can't stop myself from trolling them 😛

In the end, you can often judge the quality of a moment by the reaction to it.

Take the death threats given out when Aeris died...

I see it will be called Torchwood: The New World, and if the article I read was true, it sounds like it's going back to how series 1 was... I liked how they toned down the swearing and 'watershed' stuff(I don't mind swearing and so on, but in the first series, it was like they just added it in for the sake of it to show it was ADULT and not Doctor Who) in the second series and mini series. Children of Earth proved you don't need it to make it more 'adult'.

And I'm hearing 'reboot' going around...

Anyone have any information?

A really great series, probably one of my favorites.

A bit old, but I see the American actor Chad Michael Murray might get a role in the new series if it's true he is auditioning for it?

Have yet to see CoE, but I will, and will also be eagerly anticipating this new season. The Whoniverse is awesome, DW is my favorite show probably of all-time, and this is an amusing (though not entirely as brilliant) spinoff.

New Torchwood just aired on Starz (at least for me on the East Coast) and holy balls is it good.
High hopes for the new season possibly paying off? We'll see.

**** me, Children of Earth was powerful.

Haven't seen the new thing yet. Excited.
