Here we go again, in the last two episodes gay snogging, I am sick of this soft porn BS in this show which is not needed what’s installed in series two I ask? A sexual orgy or may be a spot of necrophilia. The first part of the two part ending started off well but by the end it had gone down the tubes, as for the final part I was not impressed by the sloppy story and the dreadful CGI monster, I have seen more convincing monsters come free in my breakfast serial packet.
Torchwood has been a massive let down, it's been nothing more than a badly written show starring a lot of second rate actors who need to go back to drama school and learn how to act. And not forgetting lots of seedy soft porn thrown in as well, this show is a bloody disgrace to the world of Sci Fi and if it dose not improve by 100% by series two then it should be cancelled for ever.

I agree with most of that, if not all of it.
Calling two guys kissing soft porn makes me seriously call your judgment into question, Koenig. I've seen more intense stuff on Grange Hill, frankly. I am beginning to have contempt for such complaints.
I shall quote the Daily Telegraph about the last episodes, a paper which has fair panned the series so far.
"Russel T Davies' sci-fi spin-off only rarely displayed the flashes of brilliance that lit up his Doctor Who revival... what it really lacked was the credibility that comes from consistently strong storylines. That said, they pulled out all the stops for the series' spectacular concluding double bill... With its uncommonly convincing script and teriffic special effects, this finale also held out the hope that Torchwood itself might come back stronger when it returns later this year."
Fair comment. The big monster wasn't all that great but I've seen much worse and the plot itself was absolutely fine and I was verg happy.
People can get stuck into cliches of criticism after a bad start and loe the ability to look at something objectively. The fact is that if this was the quality of the average Torchwood episode, no-one would be complaining.
Too be honest, I haven't really watch the last couple of episodes. Torchwood disspointed me with that episode ("Countrycide"😉, which ripped everything already seen in horror films... and bad ones at that.
"The story features homages to several other films and television series, including The Blair Witch Project (initial camping scenes), Psycho (Kilner jars in the cellar), The Village (hooded figures in the forest), Jeepers Creepers (a monster that awakens every twenty-three years to harvest people for organs), Shaun Of The Dead (barricading themselves in the pub), Texas Chainsaw Massacre (a group of cannibals and Toshiko's joke about putting people on meathooks), and various Hammer House of Horror episodes (abandoned village/strange villagers). In the Torchwood Declassified accompaniment, Russell T. Davies described his desire to "do The Hills Have Eyes".
The episode shares similarities with the Supernatural episode "The Benders" which is also the first episode of the series where the menace appears at first to be a mythical beast (as per the series norm) only to turn out to be Human."
^^Taken from Wikipeadia^^
Since then I haven't really watched it. I keep missing it overall now though. I think the interest is there, but I'm sure if I go back and watch the ones I've missed that I might start getting back into it. I still think though that as a whole it has been a disappointment.

its not the only thing it shares in common with that episode
i watched the last hour and thought it was ok
it was good to see Murray Melvin as the villain
he held a door open once for me and my gf once and he was very pleasant(even though i did embarrass myself asking if he was in KEN RUSSELS THE DEVILS which he is)
nice Doctor Who/tardis link up at the end
poor CGI demon though
i hate CGI demons they remind me of SPAWN
Now the dust has settled and yes I have been the biggest critic of Torchwood I am prepared to give it a second chance. Let's see good solid story lines and better acting, dump the borderline soft porn and bad language it's not welcomed and not needed in the show. Just to add to this comment I am writing to the BBC pointing out why this show has been a let down and hoping there will be a big shake up for the better when series two comes along.
You lot are very lucky my boss who is her 50's and is a big Dr Who fan is not a member here as her remarks on Torchwood would make your eyes pop out.

Ha ha. You do make me giggle Koenig. I would love to meet your boss. Maybe me, you and her could hook up one night? Just kidding. I'm gonna give it a second chance too, and if series two (!) is an improvement (to say the least) then I will buy this series on DVD... just as a way of saying sorry. But then again I might not.
I think what Koenig is trying to say is that Torchwood is trying to be almost pornographic (I might be wrong Koenig), even though it isn't. It thinks it is breaking new ground and being all adult like, as though trying to say children shouldn't watch it. The truth is that they shouldn't watch it because it isn't all that.

I still don't get how two guys making out is even borderline soft core porn. It's two people freaking kissing. I'll bet anything you couldn't care less about that were it a guy and a girl or two girls.Torchwood isn't Doctor Who, stop trying to think like it is.
Borderline soft porn of any kind just makes this show look grubby and sleazy and there is enough of that in the real world, I know Torchwood is not Dr Who but they have botched it with poor story lines.

Most children have access to a TV and most will own one in there room how many parents control what there children can and can not watch after 9pm. Not many I bet, the BBC claims to have high standards pardon more like double standards.

Two people kissing is not borderline soft core porn. End of story. If you think so, you've lived one hell of a sheltered life.
And if you know TW is not DW, why keep making the comparisons?
That's borderline homophobic, Koenig...
Anyways, the only problem that anyone seems to have- outside this thread, at least- is the poor story writing for a few episodes. Otherwise, it was well received and well liked. I liked it, for sure.
And on Countrycide ripping from several sources...congrats, you just realized how people write stories. A great deal of modern stories borrow from different sources in order to pay homage or twist it into their own storyline. Countrycide could be considered as doing both.
Well, I'll be honest and say that I agree with a point that Ush made - it seems that people were disappointed with the first couple episodes and let that disappointment cloud their view of the rest of the episodes.
And considering, barand, that you've said you haven't even seen the last few episodes...I'm taking your opinion as void.

And on this...it's the job of the parents to monitor what a kid watches, not the job of the television companies to censor material that's on at a time where most kids will not be watching television.

I found it laughable if this is the best the BBC could do too make a adult series with bad language and sex in it. This sort of thing has been done and it's boring.

I agree with you on this point. Maybe the BBC should had put Torchwood on at a later time.
