Love Will Not Save You From Hell

Many people harp on one aspect of Jesus' ministry but totally ignore and disregard the true message that He taught: repentance from sin and salvation through Jesus Christ. We must repent (i.e. change our minds) about our sins and feel remorse for them, then ask Jesus Christ to save us from our sins. The love that Jesus taught was not the thrust of His ministry but a conduit through which His ministry flowed. Jesus wants us (those who have repented from our sins and asked Jesus Christ to save us from Hell and from our sins) to walk in love among (or amongst) ourselves (especially) and also towards those who are outside the Christian community. Folks, love will not save you from Hell, but repentance from your sins and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation from sin will save you from Hell. To be continued...

Doesn't this fit under one of the "...Hell" threads? Or perhaps the "near death experience" thread JIA made? Or perhaps one of the many "...jesus saves" type threads JIA has made? If Urizen's threads can be squeezed into one, JIA's should be as well.
Also, isn't creating two nearly identical threads in a row a form of trolling?

is it trolling? or does it have its own name?

I think this thread is actually focused on evangelism and has a more positive mood, making it seperate.

seeing that evangelism is a form of spreading the gospel, i cant talk trash about it. i wll say that i have trouble trusting televangelists.

North American evangelism is terrible as it is fear based, angry, and not loving. International evangelism seems to take the intended form though so I support it.

there just seems to be a lot of corruption there.

I knew he would return one day... unlike Jesus (sorry, couldn't help myself.)

Anyway, many a romantic poet would be spinning in their graves - so love doesn't overcome all, even the love of a God.

i say that all you need is love. i know, i just quoted john lennon. RIP, john. but there it is.

Save us from an imaginary place?

The secular meaning behind the word Hell simply meant “hidden, out of sight?” Yep, in the ancient German, when two young folks went to a dark place to hide for some necking, the “went to hel,” they hid somewhere. Our English words helmut, hall, hole, heel, hall all stem from the German word hele. The religious meaning of the word Hell came from Germany too, actually Teutonic mythology. Hele was a goddess of the underworld in ancient folklore.

Hel is the name of the Norse underworld, and its ruler. Hel/Hela, in Norse mythology, was the hideous daughter of the Giant Loki, banished to the netherworld, Helheim (literally, 'house of Hel'😉, world of the dead, by the Chief God, Odin. The distinctive looking Goddess, whose skin is black on one side, rules over the dead until Ragnarok and the coming birth of the new world.

Hel is sister of Fenris, the wolf, and Jormungand, the world-serpent.

The name for the Christian world of torment is derived from Hela's abode. Unlike the Christian version, however, Hel's realm was home to all who did not die in battle- miserable as it was, good behavior wasn't any more likely to get one a reprieve. Helheim's entrance works only in one direction- once one has entered, even a God, one cannot leave- like the Greek Hades, Helheim is guarded by a monstrous hound, and encircled by an impassable river. According to legend, the dead will remain in Hel's kingdom until the last days of Ragnarok.

All that being said, the only true phrase that suits. “There ain’t no hell,” It is a mythical place.

isnt "helmut" a hard rock band?

^ Yeah it's hell.............lol

i knew that. really, i did.

That is a stretch to think that Jesus could have been influenced by the Norse, with whom he had no connection or chance for influence from. Norway was very isolated from the Roman Empire, and even farther removed from Israel.

Almost a big as stretch as thinking the various people of the world far distant from the middle east somehow knew about God and the Abrahamic religions prior to meeting Christian/Islamic missionaries.

Almost... but not quite... hehe...

I'm personally convinced that (and anthropology supports me) that all religions were derived from a monotheistic and/or dualist predecessor. One being the good creator, male, and the other the White Goddess (Moon Goddess) that was evil. I also believe that the good creator is purely represented by the Judaic faith. I believe that the Mormans have a similar belief.

i believe that everyone has their own version. when you die, you go to heaven or hell. if its heaven, its your own version. it could be surrounded by family, in a flower filled meadow with your wife or husband, in a lake filled with chocolate.....whatever your heart desires.
