Yes to both. Reb Soldiers rock. Plus we, as always, have the better dental plan and this whole "destined future" thing going.

Well, the Imperial Commander template is similar to Soldier, but you get to command your own unit. Currently I believe we have one Commander, or is the player of the second still in?
